  1. Ind 93-2published at 19 overs

    Target 103

A short ball from Batty nearly snares a wicket as Kohli hoicks the ball out to midwicket. The ball bounces just in front of the fielder, and Kohli casts a suspicious glance at the pitch. The pair trade singles as India march closer to victory.

Adil Rashid is another bright light of the series for England, he's improving all the time.

  3. Ind 89-2published at 18 overs

    Target 103

That was Rashid's 18th wicket of the series. Whatever happens from here on in, the confidence he has now and the way he has performed is a huge positive for England. Kohli gets off the mark with a steer off his legs and steals the strike for the next over.

Pujara will be disappointed with that because he's an attritional type of player who really values his wicket. It was a good catch by Joe Root - he had to make up a lot of ground.

    Pujara c Root b Rahid 25 (Ind 88-2)

A consolation wicket, if ever there was one. Pujara tries to sweep Rashid away to the boundary but he can't beat Root, who is hovering at short leg. A full length dive ensures he gets two hands to it. The crowd cheer, partly for Pujara, but partly because Virat Kohli is walking to the crease.

  7. Ind 88-1published at 17 overs

    Target 103

Batty has a wry smile on his face as Pujara comes down the pitch and whips him off his pads, away for another boundary. It is a thankless task, bowling at times like this, and it's even more thankless for Batty as Pujara drills a fierce straight drive back into Batty's foot. He doesn't even flinch. Hard as nails, that man.

I used to say it as well as captain but "taking positives" is all nonsense. It's just a line that you use. England won't be taking many positives from this performance.

  9. Ind 83-1published at 16 overs

    Pujara 20, Parthiv 57

Rashid is shaking his bowling hand around, as though he's knocked it. England have a week before the next Test begins in Mumbai, which will give them a chance to sort out any injury niggles that have crept in during the Test. A tidy over from Rashid reaps just two singles, but India need just 20 runs.

Parthiv Patel has done everything in this match that the team and team management would have wanted. He has done brilliantly.

  11. Ind 81-1published at 15 overs

    Target 103

Gareth Batty is going to have a bowl. He has a long chat with Cook, telling him what field he wants, and Parthiv promptly cracks the ball past all of them and away to the boundary. He looks supremely good off the back foot.

Lovely shot, great use of the feet and he played it with the turn. It was timing more than anything that got it over the boundary rope.

50 for Parthivpublished at 13.4 overs

    Ind 76-1

Parthiv has reached for second gear. He flashes hard at Rashid, the ball flying over Stokes' head and into the boundary rope. The next ball turns and Parthiv just goes with it. Up and over it goes, flying over the boundary rope and landing just in front of the photographers behind the advertising boards. This might all be over rather quickly.

The 50 partnership took 63 balls.

  16. Ind 63-1published at 13 overs

This is all going nicely for Parthiv and Pujara. They're putting the bad balls away but it's the running between the wickets that is pushing this score along. Stokes bangs it in and Parthiv rises high, bat in the air, to dink it over the top of Bairstow and away for four runs. Stokes, face bright red from exertion, huffs in frustration.

    Parthiv 35, Pujara 17

Gareth Batty is lurking down in the deep again. He can't have imagined that this was how his Test was going to turn out. Moeen will continue and Pujara comes dancing down the wicket, but he can only turn the ball along the ground for a single. That's far too short from Moeen and its pulled with relish by Parthiv for four.

Even the authorities here don't want the game to drag on until tomorrow for 15-20 runs.

  20. Ind 51-1published at 11 overs

    Target 103

Pujara brings India's 50 up to rapturous applause as he runs a delivery from Stokes through short leg. Stokes bowls his two bouncer limit, both too far down leg to trouble the batsmen. Moeen, who had briefly been off the field, jogs back on as Stokes rounds off the over.
