I'm already worried about who's going to open with Hameed when Cook retires.

Full from Moeen, and Parthiv takes a shine to it, clipping it away through midwicket for four more. Cook shows off his best double teapot, eyes inscrutable behind the sunglasses. A cracking bit of fielding out in the deep by Anderson stops India from stealing another run, just as the trombone starts up again.
Target 103
Any stats buffs out there got an answer to OD's query? Let us know. It looks a little gloomy out in the middle, matching England's mood nicely. Stokes follows up at bit of leg side rubbish with a wider delivery that just beats Parthiv's waft. He takes a straighter line, cramping both batsmen for room.

OD: What's the most runs in a Test without a century? Are we anywhere near?
Pujara 14, Parthiv 23
Moeen Ali, who was considerably underbowled in the first innings, is on. He nips one past Pujara's forward defensive and Jonny Bairstow whips the bails off. Stokes stands at slip, hands no his hips, looking pretty unimpressed by proceedings.

The light has turned just a little bit gloomy but India clearly want to finish the game off today so they can have an extra day off. India don't want any pressure on them so they are playing their shots but at the same time they are taking singles.
Target 103
Parthiv adds insult to injury by getting up onto his toes and cutting Stokes to the boundary. That ball sat up nicely, but it's clear which way India are going to go here. They're whizzing along at a fair old rate.
An inside edge will save Parthiv Patel. It was very late, and I'm not sure how much Parthiv knew about it, but he will remain at the crease. So England have used both their reviews inside the first seven overs.

You can understand the gamble. England don't have much time left in the game.
Ind 33-1
Hello, Stokes has struck Parthiv on the pad with the first ball! That looks alright and Cook's decided to use his last review.
Cheers, Just. I've just eaten a full English breakfast in record time. Here's Ben Stokes.
The equation is simple: India need a further 70 to win; England require nine wickets. Either way, it will all be over in the final session. Amy Lofthouse is back to talk you through it. Be nice.

The Mirror's Dean Wilson: "There is no hardship to being beaten by a better team but when you don't make them work as hard as you should then you have only got yourself to blame. At the end of this match there will a lot of chat about Hameed but you can't escape how poor the senior players have been."
BBC Test Match Special
The Sun's John Etheridge: "Hameed didn't appear to be inconvenienced by his finger injury. The way he batted here, it seems ridiculous that there's talk of him missing the last two Tests or sending him home. On that evidence, you'd want him to play, even if it was only the last Test."

Tez: Every 4 years we tour India and find a gem like Cook, Root and now Hameed. Let's speed this up and tour every year.

BBC Test Match Special statistician
James Anderson's failure to take a wicket in the first innings ended the third longest streak for taking at least one in a Test innings for England. He's had another streak of 27 and Andrew Flintoff went 35 Test matches taking at least one wicket between 2004 and 2006.

The Sun's John Etheridge: "A break will do England good. Each Test match must be something special and there have been signs in this game of mental fatigue. Five batsmen getting out on the first day was evidence of that."
BBC Test Match Special
The Mirror's Dean Wilson: "It's a particularly gruelling seven Test matches this winter. The more I think about it, the angrier I get at the schedule presented to the players. The two Bangladesh Test matches took a lot out of the players and it's taken its toll."

Rachel T: Can we add Hameed to the SPOTY contenders? What a talent he is.
