England bowler Tymal Mills: "I felt in good nick coming over here, I took the new ball and helped us win. On these wickets you are not going to swing the ball, just bowl straight and hard and mix up the pace.

"It's been a tough couple of years for me so it's great to get my first international wicket."

Man of the match Moeen Ali: "We were fantastic with the ball today and the way the guys batted was fantastic. I have been bowling quite well in the ODIs but not been getting any wickets so it was nice to be getting wickets today.

"I think if I got hit for a few Adil Rashid may have got on. I've been in that situation before and next time hopefully he will get a bowl."

England captain Eoin Morgan: "Our bowlers were outstanding tonight, everyone in the unit executed the plans we talked about. We showed a lot of experience. The two guys who came into the squad put their hands up.

"The opening batsmen got off to a flier, it releases any pressure on the guys coming in after them. Sam Billings hasn't played much this tour but he has taken his chances when he has had an opportunity."

India captain Virat Kohli: "England played better cricket today, with the ball and the bat they were precise. They were deserving winners and we need to stand up and applaud them. Credit to their bowlers for bowling good hard length. They had an explosive start with the bat too. We pulled things back but we were about 30/40 runs short.

"This is a format you need to enjoy and play at your intense best. We need to address the things we want to and not take too much stress from this. We need to just enjoy and not put too much pressure on the youngsters."

Batting second is key. It gives you an opportunity to figure out what a good score would be. They would have been absolutely delighted to restrict India to 147. It was a 180 sort of pitch.

India could have been smarter in the field, they couldn't create any sort of pressure on England at all.

England batsman Joe Root: "With the bat we knew it would take one big partnership, not necessarily the prettiest but we got the job done and it is a great start to the series. It wasn't my most fluent knock but we did what we had to do and Morgan took the pressure off me at the other end.

"It's great to see Roy and Billings come in and bat with such confidence. To see Sam bat like that was brilliant."

I know you've all been wondering, but the last time England won back-to-back white ball games in India was January 2013.

This is a real signal that England have sent to India and they should be proud. They have developed as a unit together, they seem to appreciate each other's company. That batting line-up is ridiculous! But the bowlers did set it up today and they should be credited. Mills bowled real pace, Jordan had good yorkers and Plunkett had the ball zipping off the pitch.

Smiles all round for the men in red, Eoin Morgan meets his two batsmen at the fence with a hug and a handshake. They made that look very, very easy.

Sam Billings' sensational early hitting put England well ahead of target and then Eoin Morgan's captain's knock and Joe Root's silky accumulation pieced that victory together for England. A job very well done.
