  1. Eng 2-0published at 0.3 overs

    England need 148 to win

Ashish Nehra opens up the bowling for India at the sprightly age of 37. Jason Roy pops one through the covers and there's a rare misfield from Virat Kohli to open the scoring.

Here come England openers Jason Roy and Sam Billings. Let's get the run chase under way...

Afternoon everyone! The consensus from the bodies in the BBC Sport centre is that India are at least 30 runs shy of par and England should have no bother knocking these off. How's that for confidence?

It's a swift turnaround, barely time for MS Dhoni to swap his batting pads for keeping gloves. I'm off. Here's Tom Rostance.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali: "We feel good, obviously. We have restricted them to under 150 which is a total we were looking at. It's nice to get a wicket in white-ball cricket finally! I tried to play back of a length and vary the pace as much as I can. It's a big ground, there will be a lot of twos and threes and hopefully we can chase it down."

To put that score into context, India have only twice made a score under 147 batting first and gone on to win the match.

England will be absolutely delighted with that score, with their batting order to come. They will be feeling confident at the half-way stage.

  8. Ind 147-7published at 20 overs

Jasprit Bumrah runs well to get back for a second run off the final ball, but that's a tiny crumb of comfort from a biscuit of disappointment for India. England are big favourites at half-time.

  9. Ind 145-7published at 19.5 overs

Dhoni can't get it through. Another dot.

  10. wicket

Rasool run out 5 (Ind 145-7)

Optimistic from Parvez Rasool to think that MS Dhoni would run a single. Hammered straight at cover, Rasool sets off, Dhoni leans on his bat. Ta-rah, lad.

Gareth Lowe: Let's not be critical of the decision to pick Rashid - no-one would have expected our pace bowlers to do so well - it's good captaincy.

Awais Bhatti: Good cricket from England, if they can keep their heads, I can see a win on the horizons

    2-4-4

Noise levels cranked up. Dhoni goes again! This time through point. He's bullying the ball. Maybe he's giving India a sniff.

  13. Ind 141-6published at 19.2 overs

Downtown from Dhoni, incredible power. Jordan misses the yorker and it costs him four.

  14. Ind 137-6published at 19.1 overs

Hit back by Dhoni. Jordan does well to get a hand to it. India scamper two.

Why didn't Dhoni go after England there?

    Mills 4-0-27-1

Very, very good from Tymal Mills, who gets applause from captain Morgan. Virat Kohli, in the India dressing room, is slumped in his seat. Even if the last over sees six deliveries sailing over the rope, England would still fancy the chase.

  17. Ind 132-6published at 18.3 overs

Still India swipe willow at leather, still England's boundary fielders have the time for a brew and a biscuit. Tymal Mills hops and skips in - it's a sign of India's struggle that a Dhoni pull for two brings a cheer.

MS Dhoni is targeting down the ground with his helicopter whip so that is brilliant bowling from Chris Jordan, exactly where you need to bowl to him. Full, off stump or wider,

  19. Ind 128-6published at 18 overs

Yet another excellent over. Boundaries are an endangered species here. The crowd is flas as a naan bread. India need something special from Dhoni.

Richard Parfitt: I'm not sure picking Rashid as a specialist batsman is going to pay off.
