John E Corke: I used to think a googly was the bowler distracting you with their eyes. Then I got bowled by one. I didn't know where to look.

It will be Virat Kohli to open the batting. The crowd are chanting his name before he has even crossed the boundary. Tymal Mills has got his cap off...

Rob Ward: Can't help but think Stokes at 5 and Buttler at 6 is too low in a T20i. Should be 3 and 4.

T20 skills are now filtering into one-day and Test cricket. If anything, T20 cricket has helped bowlers to develop variations because you have to do something different when David Warner is smiting a hundred on the first morning of a Test match.

The players are out for the anthems. Something that Jos Buttler said to Virat Kohli got plenty of laughs from Joe Root and Eoin Morgan. It might have been "Tymal is going to make you smell the leather".

The same man who produced the haggis question once confessed to formerly believing that a nightwatchman actually had to stay in the middle all night. Do let me know of the times you have been cricketingly confused, and if it caused embarrassment.

Incredible conversation just overhead in the office. A Scottish colleague has produced a homemade haggis pie. He was asked "I'm not sure what haggis is. Is it an actual living thing?"

    Incredible.

It's still daylight in Kanpur, this match is being played earlier in the day so that dew isn't too much of a factor later on.

No doubt plenty will be made of this match being a T20 return to India for an England side that lost the World T20 final here in such agonising circumstances. Ben Stokes, Carlos Brathwaite, you know the rest.

Still, Stokes conquered some Eden Gardens demons in the final ODI. I doubt T20 heartbreak will cross his mind today.

Right then, have we got all that? If you're up to speed, you can now turn your ears to Test Match Special. The team out in India have been struggling with a little, erm, illness, but they are on the air and can be heard at the top of this page or on 5 live sports extra.

India captain Virat Kohli: "I would have bowled first too if I’m honest. It’s a good batting surface and if you get a good total the game could be in your favour.

"Those senior guys in the middle order are grooming the younger guys, we are looking for guys who will kick off their careers for their country. It should remain a pretty good batting wicket and it should be a high scoring game. It’s still a mystery where I will bat - you’ll find out when I walk out there."

England captain Eoin Morgan: "We put in a lot of hard work in the Test series and to get a result at the end was very important for our confidence.

"It’s a really tough 11 to pick and we have a lot of guys challenging for positions. I’m hoping the surface today will be a good one. There are two really good teams and we hopefully we can produce a good performance."

There's no Ashwin or Jadeja for India, they have both been rested. We think Virat Kohli might open the batting, so he might get Tymal Mills up his nose.

India: Rahul, Kohli, Dhoni, Yuvraj, Pandey, Pandya, Raina, Rasool, Chahal, Nehra, Bumrah.

England: Roy, Billings, Root, Morgan, Stokes, Buttler, Moeen, Jordan, Plunkett, Rashid, Mills.

Eoin Morgan calls correctly after Ravi Shastri tells us it's a Republic Day toss in India. Morgan, in England's T20 red, opts to chase. Tymal Mill and Chris Jordan are both in the England side.

Which, I suppose, makes the T20 series the cheeseboard and coffee. Varied - sometimes subtle, sometimes overpowering - with a caffeine high throughout.

There's three of them, the first one is in Kanpur and the toss is imminent...

If England's tour of India is a meal, then the Test series was certainly a stodgy main course that got worse as it went on and may have long-term repercussions.
