    Moeen 3-0-16-1

Moeen Ali has been tidy, but there's currently no sign of Adil Rashid. Rashid would do well to watch how Moeen has varied his pace - he's only conceded one boundary in his three overs.

I once explained how the pads at the base of rugby posts were to keep them warm so they didn't get brittle. My girlfriend believed me.

    Raina 26 off 18

Cheers and chants as MS Dhoni makes his way to the crease. India might need something from the former skipper if they are get out of sight here - England possibly the happier side at the moment. Raina, though, is continuing to whir away. It takes a certain sort of gumption to dance at Liam Plunkett's 90mph thunderbolts. Four more over cover.

It was a really good catch because he had the spidercam to contend with. It was hanging around in the air and he's just about caught that in his fingertips. It should be given out.

Yep. England should be pleased with this start. We are seeing uneven bounce, a change of pace in the pitch. There's something there.

    Yuvraj c Rashid b Plunkett 12 (Ind 75-3)

It's very, very good from Adil Rashid. Yuvraj has top-edged a pull off Liam Plunkett, Rashid has come in off the fence, taken the ball low down and held on as he tumbled over. The replay confirmed the ball didn't touch the turf as he rolled. England keep chipping away...

This will be an incredible catch if the replays say Adil Rashid has held it. Coming in from fine leg. Yuvraj Singh the batsman...

England have been here three times for one-day internationals, they've lost them all batting first. Maybe they can change that pattern today by batting second.

  8. Ind 75-2published at 10 overs

    Raina 20, Yuvraj 12

Moeen had a hold over this India pair, mixing his pace, until Yuvraj decided that enough is enough. Plant the foot, swing the willow, plonk the ball down the ground for four. Halfway.

That is what makes Suresh Raina so good in this format. He is able to play delicate shots like that cut but he can also be aggressive when he needs to be.

  10. Ind 68-2published at 9 overs

Still good stuff from England, keeping a lid on India's scoring and the crowd. The angle across the left-handers means only the off side is in play, with Stokes also going past Yuvraj's outside edge. The frustrated crowd chant for MS Dhoni as Liam Plunkett lets one through his legs at mid-off. That's three when it should only have been one. Wouldn't you know it? Raina follows up with a cut for four. Seven off the final two balls of the over.

    Moeen 1-0-3-1

Yuvraj Singh is the new man, so a pair of lefties at the crease. Looking again at that catch, Morgan somehow got his fingers pointing to the sky. The ball rattled around in his hands. This is good from England. Twelve balls since the last boundary.

Wow. That was phenomenal. He timed that stroke so well, it flew to Eoin Morgan and the skipper stood firm, kept his balance and took an unbelievable catch. I'd love to see the reaction times on that.

    Kohli c Morgan b Moeen 29 (Ind 55-2)

Big wicket, great catch, silence in Kanpur. Moeen Ali's first delivery is powerfully whipped by Virat Kohli, those rubber wrists add supersonic pace to the ball. Eoin Morgan, though, takes an incredible reaction catch at short mid-wicket. He didn't have to move much, but the ball almost took him with it.

  18. Ind 55-1published at 7 overs

    Kohli 28, Raina 13

I thought we'd see spin at the end of the powerplay, but instead it's Ben Stokes. The last time Ben Stokes bowled in a T20 in India... you know the rest. The cameras hone in on a big chap who must be a dignitary. He's wearing a wonderful rosette - it's the size of an umbrella. More pace from Stokes, 89mph. Good over too.

If England have done their research... a short ball wouldn't go amiss against Suresh Raina.

  20. Ind 47-1published at 6 overs

    Kohli 26, Raina 10

Suresh Raina is up and running, skipping towards Plunkett and slicing over the off side, beating the scrambling off the sweeper out on the fence. Much noise inside Green Park, hosting its first T20 international. Oh, hello! Straight down the ground from Raina, one-bounce four. He's ticking.
