In the nick of time, Buttler finds the boundary which England needed.

England are desperate for boundaries now. Buttler delivers with an unorthodox pull to Nehra's short ball. Four.

  3. Eng 125-4published at 18.3 overs

    Eng need 20 off 9

Nehra, already with three wickets to his name, comes in for his final over. Buttler digs out a yorker which brings Root to the strike.

Root is looking for a big six but doesn't quite get hold of it, lucky for him it falls short of a fielder and they run two. Another single follows as he hits it straight back to the bowler. England need some boundaries. Big time!

This is where experience is everything. Ashish Nehra has done this so many times for India.

Another dot ball. And another. He almost has a wicket to finish as Root sends one high but short of the onrushing fielder on the edge of the circle. Bumrah is doing a sterling job for his side. India favourites now.

Until Stokes was out, England looked in control of the game. Now, India are back in this and something has to give.

This is brilliant bowling from Jasprit Bumrah - he clearly knows his IPL team-mate very well.

Eng need 26 from 12 balls

Two dot balls from Bumrah to Buttler. Is this going to be tighter than we perhaps thought a couple of overs ago? The England wicketkeeper finally manages to get off strike with a single from the third ball of the over.

  9. Eng 118-4published at 17 overs

Eng need 27 from 18 balls

Jos Buttler. The finisher. He is off the mark with a single off the brilliant Nehra's final ball.

It opens the door slightly, but there's still plenty of batsmen left for England.

Stokes lbw Nehra 38 (Eng 117-4)

Nehra took 2-7 in in his first two overs by utilising the pitch. He continues in this vein, meaning the England pair have to get inventive and bold.

After four singles, Stokes is too bold and is caught bang in front playing an ugly heave into the leg side. Up goes the finger to send the home fans into raptures. This is going to be tight.

Virat Kohli has hands on hips but still manages to shout out his orders. He has the look of a man who has almost accepted defeat.

Stokes deals with a Bumrah full toss by dragging it over to the mid-wicket boundary. Nine off the over and England are closer to the finishing line.

That's just brute power from Ben Stokes. No way should that be going for six.

  14. Eng 104-3published at 15 overs

Eng need 41 from 30 balls

Another Indian spinner bowls out as Chahal delivers his last. Root is happy to hand over to Stokes, who is frustrated by Kohli at cover after connecting very well with a shortish ball. That's four but for the fielder.

The Durham all-rounder makes no mistake a couple of balls later, using his raw power to smash a ball off the back foot straight over long-on for six. He has won that battle for his side. Can he win them the war?

India might have to go all-seam in the final five overs unless they decided to go with Yuvraj.

When India thought they were gaining control, England have wrested it back through Ben Stokes.

  17. Eng 93-3published at 14 overs

    Eng need 145 to win

There's some solid dancing going on in the Indian crowd - they're still in good spirits and feel they can win this.

But Ben Stokes has come to the party! 10 runs from Raina's first two balls, a powerful punch past the bowler for four is followed by a big six down the ground!

A few more singles to end the over. You feel momentum is now with England.

There's things happening all the time in the middle, given there's help for the spinners.

  19. Eng 80-3published at 13 overs

Eng need 65 from 42 balls

Mishra bowls out with a fine last over. Just the three singles off it to amp up the pressure a bit more on England. Huge applause around the ground. It would have been bigger had he reeled his foot back in an inch or two for that Stokes ball.

  20. Eng 77-3published at 12 overs

    Eng need 145 to win

Raina struggles to find his line as he gifts England a few wides. The Indian players then get very excited by an lbw shout as Root misses a sweep. Kohli looks shocked that wasn't given, but replays show that it was going down the leg side.

68 to win from 48 balls.
