Never in my time have I seen Jimmy Anderson charge down and wallop it over cow corner for six.
Yet more frustration for South Africa as Anderson edges Rabada through the slips for four before charging and swinging big to club the ball over mid-wicket for six. That's a new one for England's number 11!

Valuable, valuable fifty for England from Stuart Broad. Out lbw for nought but they didn't review it.

It is four years since Broad made a Test fifty, this is his 66th innings since then.
Eng 443-9
Frustration for South Africa. They get Anderson on strike to Morkel but he gets the easiest of singles with a little flick to leg.
Broad knows the short balls are coming so he sets himself and plants Morkel into the stand behind deep square. The next one goes further he reaches teh second tier to take himself past 50. Brilliant.

It's frantic out there. It always amazes me how much the crowd loves a bouncer and tail end runs, they know how much it frustrates the bowling side.
Broad 37, Anderson 1
Jimmy survives the first ball and nicks a single thanks to poor fielding from the bowler on his follow-through.
Broad continues to add runs in highly-unorthodox fashion.
Here is that superb delivery from Rabada to dismiss Moeen...
No messing about now. Broad is on a mission to get as many as he can, as quickly as he can before the last wicket falls.
We start, unsurprisingly with a short ball from Morkel, that Broad deals with superbly, driving through cover off the back foot for four.
After a flurry of big swings and misses, Broad clocks the last ball on the pull and finds the rope again. Good, but it does expose Jimmy Anderson to Rabada.

That was just pace again, Rabada has been aggressive this morning. Wood was expecting the short ball and was caught on the crease.
Wood lbw Rabada 0 (Eng 413-9)
Oh, that is out. Just... out.Mark Wood is the second man to go second ball for a duck this morning as he goes back and is trapped bang in front by Rabada. He doesn't even need to look up. He might as well walk.

Cracking delivery from Rabada did him for pace. He has run in hard after Morkel set the tone, the senior bowlers really had to step up this morning. It's the time as an opening batsman when you start to think about getting ready.
Moeen b Rabada 87 (Eng 413-8)
This is the problem with Moeen - he looks completely in control right up until the ball that undoes him. He goes for another of those silky off drives to a full Rabada ball, but this one nips back in, goes right through the gap and cleans up off stump. Brilliant ball but a very loose shot.

Right at the beginning I said it's a good pitch to bat on and I fancy England. I know we're not perfect with our top five we've got problems but we have a great middle order and decent seamers and they've got a few more problems than us.
In honour of what has been a typically unruffled display from Moeen Ali this morning, here is one of the highlights...
Ali 83, Broad 24
A Moeen Ali cover-drive truly is a thing of beauty. He effortlessly pushes through a full Morkel ball but is denied four by a diving fielder. Not to worry, he'll take flicked single next ball. No need to rush.
It leaves Broad to deal with another assault of short balls, which he manages, largely because Morkel doesn't quite land them in the right areas. That's drinks.
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
Broad is absolutely shocking, he's frightened and I give him real credit for making 24. I understand it must be very difficult.
