Amla is regarded as a terrific player of spin but he has got out in both innings to England's new spin twins.

South Africa really are subsiding here. The crowd think they might well see England win here this afternoon.

Was Hashim Amla hoping that review would have the ball going through the stumps?

    Amla lbw b Dawson 11 (SA 28-4)

Having seen the replay, Amla was walking off before the decision was made. A terrific ball from Dawson, who was much maligned in the first innings and collected a pair with the bat. It turned away and struck the back pad, it would have hit middle and off. The tenacious and diminutive Temba Bavuma is the new batsman.

This is potentially a very big wicket indeed.

A beauty from Dawson pins Amla. They have to review but let's see. The on-field decision is out.

South Africa have elevated their dangerman Quinton de Kock to number five so we could be in for some action. The left-hander will be on strike in the next one to Liam Dawson as Moeen bowls his fourth maiden.

Let's have another look at that catch from Jonny again to claim the first South African wicket. It was a beauty.

  11. Postpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 9 July 2017

Thanks Matt, we shall see. I might be a little aghast if we were still here at this time tomorrow given how long my journey home is. England have only won one of their last six Tests at Lord's and have not beaten South Africa at the Home of Cricket since readmission, losing four of the last five.

But they need just seven more wickets and South Africa are over 300 runs short of their target. We have seen 12 wickets today, how many will go in the final session? Can South Africa get through without a further loss? Unlikely, but Amla is still there.

And that is indeed tea. What a time and manner for Duminy to get out.

England are well into this South African top order now.

It is time for me to nip out and hand back to Jamie Lillywhite.

Could Jamie be talking you though the conclusion of this match tonight?

That is a tremendous catch, it was hit right out of the middle of the bat and he must have felt it was four. Tremendous technique to move the body and get the hands in the right spot, the perfect session for England. Certainly with 43 possible overs left the game could be finishing tonight.

    Oh dear, oh dear JP.

It is not Moeen Ali who gets Duminy but Mark Wood.

Just moments before tea the left-hander pulls a half-tracker straight to Moeen Ali at square leg.

    That's not great batting.

One thing is for sure, Joe Root will never be relaxed until they have got Quinton de Kock out, he got to fifty without breaking sweat.

Good work from Keaton Jennings to keep Duminy on strike to Moeen at the start of the over.

This is a battle. The left-hander against Mo who has plenty of rough outside the off stump to aim at.

That's close! JP rocks back and only just gets his bat on the ball as it skids through. Bairstow lets out a scream behind the stumps.

Even umpire Ravi thought it was close. He purses his lips from the other end.

South Africa have created chances but not taken them through ill-discipline. Bairstow was dropped before lunch when England were only about 260 ahead and in the first innings Joe Root dropped twice early on before he had 20.

    Amla 10 Duminy 0

The England fielders have hands on their heads again.

Joe Root has placed Ben Stokes cleverly close in on the off-side and Amla almost falls into the trap. He drives Anderson on the up and it falls just short and wide of the fielder.

Amla picks up four though and helps himself to another off his pads later in the over.
