The hosts, remember, are following on and remain another 230 runs from making India bat again. Dimuth Karunaratne remains unbeaten on 92.

Bravo, Jonny Bairstow. The Bradford-born Yorkshireman again showed why he indispensable to this England team. A repertoire of shots showcased this morning. His mum Janet and sister Becky (neither in fancy dress) were cheering on from the stands.

Finally, Morne Morkel claimed a deserved second wicket of the innings.

He bowled superbly this morning, following on from some fine spells yesterday.

Poor shot selection from Broad, who showed no desire to stick around.

Andrew Webb: Fancy dress at Test matches is a must - brings some fun when there is a dull part of play.

James Bruce: Fancy dress is a "nay" from me. Don't usually mind what people wear but if it disrupts others Test match then it's a no.

A quickfire 14 from Moeen ended when he flirted a bit too much with a cracker from Rabada.

South Africa struck early this morning, Toby Roland-Jones showed some intent as he belted a cover drive for four. The very next ball, he tries it again and this time finds point.
