  1. Ind 191-3published at 36 overs

    Dhawan 89, Dhoni 7

Asela Gunaratne continues to bowl his right-arm trundle at a pace it would be exaggerating to call 'pedestrian'.

It's been effective so far though, India only able to take three singles off the over and Dhawan almost chipping the last straight back at the Sri Lankan.

  2. Ind 188-3published at 35 overs

India take a couple of singles to finish off a good over for them off Lakmal.

Gunaratne will stay on from the other end - and why not after he bowled Yuvraj last over in rather unusual fashion...

  3. 6 runs

    Ind 186-3published at 34.4 overs

Lakmal is back on, he strays short to MS Dhoni and you can probably guess what happens next...

The wicketkeeper slays a wristy cut shot over the ropes for six. A remarkable stroke to get off the mark with.

Gunaratne runs in like a seamer but then he brings his finger over the ball like a spinner.

  5. Not outpublished at 34 overs

    Ind 179-3

Ah, no. It pitched outside leg stump so no need to check anything else and MS Dhoni survives.

The former captain sees off the final ball of an excellent over from Gunaratne, just one off it and a key wicket.

The question is whether it pitched in line. I am not sure it did.

  7. Umpire reviewpublished at 33.5 overs

Sri Lanka like this... has Gunaratne snared MS Dhoni LBW straight away?

Sometimes when you have got an awkward action it is hard to pick.

The ball dipped. It looked like a full toss and it has dipped massively.

Yuvraj tried to slam his bat down to keep it out but the ball kept bobbling back towards the stumps.

He can't believe it. It was an innocuous delivery.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 33.3 overs

    Yuvraj b Gunaratne 7 (Ind 179-3)

    A very odd dismissal this...

Asela Gunaratne is on for his first over and pushes his third ball up. It's very slow and loopy but lands like a yorker. Yuvraj jams his bat down on it - but doesn't get it down quite early enough and there's enough momentum on the ball to keep spinning back and onto the stumps.

He actually middled it but the angle of the bat could not prevent the ball still travelling forward.

This is a chance for Yuvraj Singh to get in. He has got time with the runs on the board and then they can really propel this score to 330.

Sri Lanka be trying to get another break through and trying to keep stemming the flow.

They don't want India to build any sort of momentum at the end of the innings.

  11. Ind 178-2published at 33 overs

Gunathilaka races through another over, his gentle off-spin proving accurate enough to quell Dhawan and Yuvraj's attacking instincts.

Weird change of pace in this game - India were more attacking in the immediate aftermath of those two quick wickets.

I think Sri Lanka will use the short ball a lot to Yuvraj.

It is something he has worked on but in England the pitches are a little bit quicker and that boundary over to our right is quite far.

  13. Ind 174-2published at 32 overs

Good stuff from Perera again, bowling slightly back of a length to Yuvraj, who mistimes a couple. Not quite got his eye in yet.

Dhawan certainly does but fails to cash in off another short delivery to end the over.

India have been forced to hit the breaks in the last few overs. Sri Lanka need more wickets to prevent a big score though.

Sri Lanka have indeed come back into this a bit with a couple of tidy overs, but they missed the opportunity to really turn the screw after Kohli's wicket, thanks to Dhawan.

The opener plundered four boundaries in quick succession after his captain departed, including two back-to-back beauties, which you can watch below.

This is a muted spell for India with some tidy Sri Lankan bowling.

Pakistan-based journalist Zainab Abbas, external is claiming credit for Virat Kohli's duck. She took a selfie with the India captain earlier this week. She also took a selfie with South Africa's AB de Villiers. His next score was also a duck.

    Spooky.

Hopefully she's going to bump into some Aussie cricketers before the weekend...

  17. Ind 170-2published at 31 overs

    Dhawan 80, Yuvraj 3

Good over from Gunathilaka in the end, just one off it.

  18. Ind 170-2published at 30.3 overs

Gunathilaka gets one to go on with the arm and through Dhawan's defences, the Sri Lankans going up for LBW.

Nothing doing though, looked to hit high up the back pad and Angelo Mathews decides against reviewing it.

I was here yesterday watching the players practice and Yuvraj was working on his trigger movements.

He was looking to set himself up probably. I think he must have felt a little off balance at times.

  20. Ind 169-2published at 30 overs

    Perera 6-0-27-0

Thisara Perera is back into the fray. He's been the pick of Sri Lanka's bowlers today, going for under five an over so far.

Another good over, giving Dhawan no room to cut and pull away. Yuvraj tucks a single off his legs, watchful stuff so far from the veteran. Fireworks on hold for now.
