Plunkett 5-0-29-0
Eurgh, that's a horrid no-ball from Plunkett, a beamer that Smith fends away from his face. That brings up Australia's 100 and a free hit for Smith, who can only plonk a short ball down to fine leg. That's lovely from Smith though, that step across his stumps in action again as he drives the ball straight past Plunkett and into the rope. Plunkett's been off the pace this morning.

Nice little start from Rashid. It's important as a leg-spinner that he gets in and finds his line, pace and rhythm.
Smith 22, Finch 51
Spin time, with Adil Rashid brought into the attack. In he trots, tossing the ball up, and Smith gives him two deliveries before tip-toeing down the track and whipping him down the field. He'll only pick a couple of runs, though, as Plunkett slides in front of the boundary rope to cut the ball off.

Aus 93-1
Time for drinks at Edgbaston. Australia have started really well here - England have been a touch off line and Australia have found their feet quickly.
Finch has a good record against England, too - this is his sixth half-century. He averages a shade over 50 against them.

Aaron Finch is back to his usual self. He's looked in fine form. He has found the boundaries and rotated the strike beautifully with both his batting partners so far.
Aus 93-1
A very nice half-century for Aaron Finch as he clips Plunkett away for a single. He was desperate to get going from the very first over, swinging at everything Wood offered up, but it's been a controlled display of biffing from the Australian opener. He's raced along, too, bringing 50 up from 47 balls, with seven boundaries.

Sally Smith: As England are through today no matter what, I would have played Bairstow and had Moeen opening in place of Roy.
Daniel Potter: Stick with Roy. Spent 2 years with successful team plus Roy was there for @englandcricket, external in Bangladesh when others deserted.
Phil: I totally agree with Karen. Root and Hales to open and JB at three. Roy needs to go play some county cricket and find some form.
Smith 16, Finch 49
Short from Stokes, and that's four. Finch knew it as soon as it hit the bat, a lovely, controlled pull through mid-wicket. And again! Back-to-back boundaries from Finch! Stokes offers him some width and Finch launches into a cut that evades a diving Jason Roy at point. Morgan shifts Joe Root from the slips, and is rewarded by Steve Smith edging a nice delivery right through where Root had just been stood. It went low, but I reckon a first slip could have snaffled that up.

I've not been particularly impressed with England's bowling. They haven't been as switched on as they have been in this tournament. Aaron Finch looks a different player today, he's obviously been in the nets and got himself into some form.
Glenn Maxwell yawns up in the dressing room as Smith and Finch pat away a tidy Plunkett over. This is better from Plunkett, tightening that line up and not giving the batsmen anything on the pads, but it feels as though England have been lacking that bit of extra oomph they found against New Zealand.

Navneet Gautam: Apart from Smith, Australia only actually have explosive players. Not convinced that they can hold an innings. His wicket key.
Stokes 2-0-6-0
Eoin Morgan tries to pull off an enthusiastic pick-up and throw at cover, and misses the ball entirely, ending up spinning about like a ballerina. Stokes calls for some sawdust and spends a bit of time patting it down onto the crease, before Smith cracks a pull away for a single. He absolutely middled that.

That was much better from Plunkett. He was awful in that first over, slow and floaty.
Smith 10, Finch 37
A better over from Plunkett, targeting the off stump, and Smith and Finch play it accordingly. A wide and a leg bye are the only errors in an otherwise good over. The crowd is starting to fill up now - there were big queues outside Edgbaston this morning and quite a few were still outside when the game started.
Here is the Australia captain in action with a lovely bit of timing to pick up his first boundary of the innings.
A double change for England, with Ben Stokes into the fray. Jonny Bairstow is on the field as a sub at the minute. There's something gloriously crab-like about Steve Smith, a touch frenetic as he shapes to play the ball, but he's someone that I really enjoy watching. This is a good over from Stokes though, a tighter line and Australia settle for a few singles.

Finch 35, Smith 9
Here's Liam Plunkett, and there goes Liam Plunkett. That's lovely from Finch, meeting the first delivery with a straight bat and driving the ball back down the ground for four. And again! That's timed perfectly, beating the fielder and clattering into the rope at long-on. A touch too full from Plunkett, who isn't looking very happy with things at the minute. That's a costly first over for the fast bowler, with 11 runs coming off it.
