  1. Aus 1-0published at 2 overs

Here's Mark Wood. Ooh, Aaron Finch! Back-to-back heaves at the ball and he's getting nowhere near it. There's definitely some swing there, the ball moving away from Finch, and the batsman can't resist opening his arms up and throwing the bat at it. He finally gets off the mark with a leading edge but he was groping for every ball in that over.

Perfect start for England, the crowd are right on it. The dot balls are getting clapped. This should be a cracking game.

  3. Aus 0-0published at 1 over

That's a belter from Ball! Ooh, that delivery moved about, and it only just beat the outside edge as Warner pushed forward. The Aussie opener puffs out his cheeks and leaves the next one. It's doing a bit, and Ball keeps going with that awkward length, slightly short and straight. The crowd applaud furiously as Ball sends down a maiden first up.

It'll be Jake Ball, who bowled so well with the new ball in Cardiff, to take the first over. He's got David Warner in his sights. It's cloudy over Edgbaston, but bright enough to force people in the stands to wear sunglasses. Here we go...

Now, I'm no body language expert, but England are stood around laughing and joking, having a chat with one of the photographers, while Australia look a little... tense? Arms folded, gum being furiously chewed. Steve Smith then jumps out of his skin as a firework goes off right next to him.

  11. 'My side just went'published at 10:21 British Summer Time 10 June 2017

England seamer Chris Woakes is on the telly at the minute. He was ruled out of the rest of the Champions Trophy with a side strain, which happened just two overs into the opening match at The Oval.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "In the second over, my side just went. I felt something tighten up. I knew straight away.

"It's like a knife going in your side. It's a lonely walk up the steps.

"They usually say 4-6 weeks' recovery time. It's more likely to be the back end of that. You don't want to rush these things. If you ping it again, you're back to square one."

Whatever format, England v Australia is special. Australia must win - they will come at England very hard today.

I'll be interested to see how England cope with Australia's seamers: they've got better as the competition has gone on and Mitch Starc is magnificent at the end of an innings.

For Australia, I think their batting has been a tad shaky. I'm not sure about Moises Henriques at four, and in these conditions, England's pace bowlers could be a handful first up.

If you're an England fan, this is a bit of a conundrum.

You want to beat Australia, obviously. It's Australia. But also, there's something quite sardonically funny about Australia being knocked out of a competition without completing a single game, due to the terrible English weather.

If you're an Australia fan, do you have any suggestions for rain-proofing the grounds? Sending out all the players with giant umbrellas, maybe?

England's only question mark in this tournament so far has been over Jason Roy.

The opener is out of nick - he's scored 27 runs in his past five innings - and has reached 50 just once in his past 10 innings.

Before the tournament he got Eoin Morgan's backing, and the captain hasn't wavered from that stance, despite the presence of an in-form Jonny Bairstow on the sidelines.

  18. 'We have to be at our best'published at 10:07 British Summer Time 10 June 2017

Australia captain Steve Smith: "We wanted to bat first. We want a good total first up. It looks a bit dry, might take a little bit of spin.

"Hopefully we can have a good day today. England have been playing soem particularly good cricket here at home and they're a good opposition so we'll have to be at our best today."

On Australia's rain-affected game: "It hasn't been ideal but you can't do much about that. It's about having the right attitude and hopefully putting on a good show."

  19. 'We're through, but that makes no difference'published at 10:06 British Summer Time 10 June 2017

England captain Eoin Morgan: "There is a hint of rain around later on and it's always been a good batting track here, so hopefully we can chase them down.

"I think we've played with an element of freedom for quite a while now - that there's nothing resting on this game doesn't really make a difference.

"We're playing Australia and it's a big game for us. We're two from two and we want to make it three from three."

Up goes the coin, and it's Eoin Morgan that calls correctly! England have won a toss! They'll have a bowl first, under some cloudy skies. They're unchanged.

Steve Smith says he'd have had a bat anyway. Australia are unchanged too.
