  1. Adams' turn for a trundlepublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Hampshire 438 v Middlesex 356 & 278-9

Hampshire are really going through the occasional bowlers now to try and finish this Middlesex innings.

Jimmy Adams with a rare bowl...

  2. wicket

WICKET Sangakkara (b Kerrigan) 136published at 16:46 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Surrey 319 & 322-3 v Lancashire 470

Kumar Sangakkara's brilliant, and very likely match-saving innings, comes to an end as he's bowled by Simon Kerrigan for 136.

Dominic Sibley joins Scott Borthwick at the crease but I can't see play continuing at The Oval for too much longer.

  3. Levi goes big at Derbypublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Derbyshire 281 & 351-1 v Northamptonshire 307 & 175-4 (target 326)

Richard Levi is not interested in sticking around. The Northamptonshire batsman smashes Jeevan Mendis for a four to the cover boundary before following it up with a huge six.

In the next over, he smacks Tom Milnes for consecutive boundaries as Derbyshire's captain Billy Godleman looks on forlornly.

The visitors need another 151 runs off 28 overs and this run-chase is rather reminiscent of Worcestershire's two-wicket final day win over Northants last season at New Road - where the Pears chased down 401.

  4. Back on at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Hampshire 438 v Middlesex 356 & 278-9

They're back on the park in Southampton for the final session.

It might end up being one of the shortest to finish a game as they could shake hands at 16:50 BST if they don't think a result is possible.

  5. In case you missed it.....published at 16:38 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Nottinghamshire (307 & 101-1) beat Durham (162 & 250) by nine wickets

Nottinghamshire completed a fine win over Durham to make it two wins from two for them in Division Two...

  6. 100 runs

Scott Borthwick hits maiden century for Surreypublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Surrey 319 & 307-2 (f/o) v Lancashire 470

Scott Borthwick reaches three figures off 233 balls, with 10 fours.

His third-wicket partnership between Kumar Sangakkara has moved on to 241 now, as the Surrey pair grind the life out of this game in the most elegant of ways.

There will have to be the biggest collapse in the history of cricket for this not to end in a draw and I imagine the players may well be shaking hands rather soon.

  7. Newton stands firmpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Derbyshire 281 & 351-1 v Northamptonshire 307 & 145-4 (target 326)

Northamptonshire's Rob Newton is edging closer to a century, having compiled 81 off just 102 balls.

The visitors opener is being ably assisted by Richard Levi at the other end, who is unbeatan on 11.

Northants need another 181 off 31 overs. The run-rate has crept up to just under six, but if Newton's not out at the end of the innings, you've got to imagine the away side will have got mighty close to their target.

  8. Sports Extra moves to The Ovalpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Surrey 319 & 275-2 (f/o) v Lancashire 470

So, tea at the Ageas Bowl where Hampshire's chances of a big win look to have gone.

BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra has now joined coverage at The Oval between Surrey and Lancashire where Kumar Sangakkara and Scott Borthwick's partnership is now worth more than 200.

Surrey's lead now worth 124 and you can hear this one online and on your digital radio.

  9. Carberry on for a bowlpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Hampshire 438 v Middlesex 356 & 278-9

Hampshire turning to Michael Carberry now with the ball in a bid to buy this last wicket.

Nothing doing though in his first over and that is finally tea.

Middlesex now 196 runs ahead and you would imagine safe with only 26 overs left to bowl.

  10. A masterclass from Sangakkarapublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

A masterclass from Kumar Sangakkara sucked all the life out of the Lancashire attack and his partnership with Scott Borthwick has steered Surrey to safety at tea.

Brutal and brilliant in equal measure, the Sri Lankan great worked the ball around the ground at will as he made batting look ridiculously easy.

When he wasn't admiring the work of his partner at the other end, Scott Borthwick (83 not out) has put his head down and should feel confident of converting his first century for his new side.

Unless Lancashire can work magic with a new ball straight after tea, this game will end with handshakes and a well fought out draw.

    Hampshire 438 v Middlesex 356 & 273-9

....cheers Kalika, lovely stuff there during another eventful afternoon.

Middlesex's last pair are still going and we've not had tea there yet. The lead now 191 with around 30 overs remaining in the day.

The longer they keep going, the less likely the chance of a positive result.

  15. Postpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

After another breathless session I'm going to leave you in the capable hands of my colleague Adam Williams for the final session and try to hunt down a good old cup of tea. Thanks for your company!

If the rain stays away, we could be in for an exciting finish at the Ageas Bowl.

We're definitely in for a very good end in Derbyshire - where there was a contrived declaration early on in the day. Not everyone seemed entirely happy with that decision.

Let us know what you thoughts are on the contrived declaration via #bbccricket

  17. Middlesex last pair delaying teapublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Hampshire 438 v Middlesex 356 & 269-9

Tim Murtagh and Ollie Rayner delaying tea at the Ageas Bowl.

They've added 17 runs so far to keep Hampshire out there and the lead is now worth 187.

Just over 34 overs still to be bowled in the day if we do get an intriguing chase for Hampshire.....

  18. Apporaching tea in our remaining three matchespublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

That's tea in our remaining matches except for at the Ageas Bowl, where they play on as Middlesex are nine wickets down.

We'll update you on all the scores and results from today's game shortly.

  19. Evergreen Stevens Kent's talismanpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

    Kent (304 & 413-5 dec) beat Sussex (291 & 200) by 226 runs

    Adam Whitty
    BBC Radio Kent at Hove

This huge 226-run victory was the story of two wonderful bowling spells.

Darren Stevens backed up his 71 not out in Kent's second innings with another match-winning bowling performance. His accuracy and consistency bamboozling the Sussex top order.

He has now picked up 11-73 in four innings this season, a remarkable feat consdering this week coincides with the 20th anniversary of his first-class debut.

Matt Coles got in on the act as well, picking up where Stevens left off to get three vital wickets after lunch.

Combine that with excellent batting performances from Sam Northeast and Sean Dickson in this game, and you have the feeling Kent are ones to watch this season in Division Two.

Sussex, meanwhile, have a few things to be concerned about before a trip to Trent Bridge next week.

They may have discovered a future bowling star in Jofra Archer, whose 7-67 lit up the opening day of this match, but their top order batting looks vulnerable.
