So, Yorkshire bowler Ben Coad has certainly made a big impression at the start of this domestic season, but who else has caught your eye so far and put themselves in the frame for a potential England call-up this summer?

Interesting last day in store at Ageas Bowl between Hampshire and Middlesex.

The defending champions lead by just 29 runs with six second-innings wickets in hand after Kyle Abbott was in the wickets yet again for Hampshire.

It was almost a fairytale day for Michael Carberry yesterday as he looked set to make a century on his comeback from Cancer treatment last summer. but the former England opener was dismissed two shy of a ton when Tim Murtagh had him caught behind.

    Warwickshire 178 & 85-9 v Yorkshire 381

Back to the games still to be decided and, as mentioned, somehow we have a fourth day's play at Edgbaston.

By-and-large that's down to the weather playing chicken with the players and spectators yesterday, but there's no confusion over how this game is going to end.

Yorkshire need a solitary wicket to wrap up an innings victory over Warwickshire, with the Bears' batting line-up struggling to keep up with the impressive Ben Coad - who has 10 wickets in the match so far.

How many balls will be required for victory? I'm guessing not too many.

  6. Cook century leads Essex to victorypublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

Alastair Cook's first match since retiring as England captain saw him score an impressive century that helped lead Essex to an eight-wicket victory over Somerset at Taunton.

The England opener was in masterful form as he shared a 134-run second-wicket stand with Tom Westley (86 not out) with just two wickets falling on the third day, after 30 had been taken in the previous two days.

Westley's four through the covers gave Essex their first win since their return to Division One.

In Division Two, Gloucestershire wrapped up an innings and six-runs win over Leicestershire in Bristol. with hosts seamer Liam Norwell taking 10 wickets in the match.

And, Worcestershire beat Glamorgan by eight wickets in Cardiff following an impressive century by 22-year-old Tom Kohler-Cadmore in the visitors' first innings.

  9. Final day fortunespublished at 10:47 British Summer Time 17 April 2017

Three teams wrapped up victory with a day to spare yesterday and we may well have a very short fourth day at Edgbaston with Yorkshire on the brink of a big win against Warwickshire.

How many balls might the Bears' last pair survive?
