Ireland need to approach the game on Sunday like they did when they beat us in the World Cup in 2011. They need to expect to win. 

England captain Eoin Morgan, speaking on Sky Sports: "In the first 10 overs we bowled too many bad balls but it was a really good wicket. 

"Adil's day shows the threat leg-spin poses to any team."

Asked if Rashid is bowling the best he's ever done, Morgan says: "Yes, he had a tough winter with some quality opposition and to come back from that to show calmness and composure, all credit to him." 

On Mark Wood, who was playing his first ODI since September, Morgan adds: "Any first game back it's important to just get some overs under your belt. It's important to get some momentum building towards the Champions Trophy."

Ireland captain William Porterfield, speaking on Sky Sports: "It wasn't the seamers that damaged us, it was the spin. We could have played that a lot better.

"When it comes to this stage, when games come thick and fast, it's more mentally that anything. You have to put yourself back on track mentally. 

"Mark Wood is a quality bowler. From their point of view it's good to have those lads back fit.

"We've had a lot of support here today and there'll be that again at Lord's - we've got to put a performance in for them more than anything."

Man of the match Adil Rashid, who took 5-27 off eight overs, tells TMS: "It was okay today, it felt quite good. It was nice to bowl my variations and it came out quite good. Hopefully I can carry it on.

"This is our first game of a long summer. Hopefully we have shown we can do some damage and we can carry it on. 

"I don't know if I'm on the top of my game but I feel quite confident. Ireland didn't have their best day but on Sunday they might come back stronger."

And, unsurprisingly, it's leg-spinner Adil Rashid who is man of the match.

Hales' stock plummeted because he played in Test cricket but if you separate the two forms of the game, it would still be very high. He's brilliant in one-day cricket. 

As for England? Well, they were clinical, and it was pleasing to see Mark Wood back. And those five wickets will have done Rashid's confidence some good. But they were helped along by Ireland's dodgy batting. Alex Hales' performance with the bat was emphatically brutal, too.

And here is the performance that put Ireland in such a mess; Adil Rashid finished with figures of 5-27, the second best one-day figures by an England spinner.

It was terrible batting from Ireland's senior players. You don't sweep when it's on your stumps. Three in the space of five overs is just daft.

Ireland managed to face just 33 overs; the batting collapse saw them lose eight wickets for 45 runs. The top five managed double figures, but captain William Porterfield's toil - making 13 from 45 deliveries - just showed how tough they found maneuvering the ball around.

You want full value for your day. Most people will have taken a day off work, or convinced the Missus that going to the cricket is a better idea than Ikea.

It took England just 20 overs to chase down Ireland's total. Ireland got off to such a promising start, too, but once the collapse started, no-one could stop it. Seven wickets to spin, on a pitch that wasn't turning, saw Ireland completely tail off.

The Irish are looking very dejected walking off, and so they should be. Joe Root is even more dejected, he's missed out on his fifty.

Let's be honest, that was disappointing. Ireland have to be much better than what they've shown today - and they'll have to turn it around quickly. The next ODI is just two days away at Lord's.
