  1. New bat pleasepublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Middlesex 142-7 (44 overs) v Lancashire

    Kevin Howells
    BBC Test Match Special

"He'll get a single.. and a new bat I hope."

Toby Roland-Jones is using a proper cricket bat, and not a beach bat, despite the snapping of willow.

  2. Division Two updatepublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

Sussex are really enjoying themselves against Durham with Stiaan van Zyl (78 not out) and captain Luke Wells (69 not out) having put on 155 runs together to take Sussex to 160-1.

Glamorgan are 156-5 against Gloucestershire. Kiran Carlson has 45 not out for the hosts at Cardiff.

Notts' promotion charge is on hold at the moment, with Northants 116-6. Rory Kleinveldt (17 not out) and Josh Cobb (32 not out) are going well at present.

  3. wicket

WICKET Trego (b Clarke) 2published at 14:15 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Somerset 138-6 (43.1 overs) v Surrey

Rikki Clarke is on fire. There's his fifth wicket as Peter Trego is bowled. Steven Davies (28 not out) may be Somerset's last hope of a sizeable score.

  4. Middlesex pair making a go of itpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Middlesex 128-7 (41 overs) v Lancashire

Ollie Rayner and Toby Roland-Jones are capable batsman and they're providing useful lower order runs for the hosts at Lord's.

Middlesex, to remind you, won Division One last season. They really need to win this game to prevent a nail-biter against Somerset next week to avoid following Yorkshire (2002) and Nottinghamshire (2006) in being relegated the year after winning the County Championship.

  5. 50 runs

for Patel at Headingleypublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Warwickshire 125-6 (43 overs) v Yorkshire

Ian Bell and Jeetan Patel are leading something of a Warwickshire revival at Headingley, with a partnership of 75 runs, and the latter has now passed 50.

He's on 52 from 47 balls, having hit four fours. Rapid.

  6. T20 captain Coughlin to leave Durhampublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Nottinghamshire sign all-rounder for 2018

Durham have announced that their T20 Blast captain Paul Coughlin is to leave the county at the end of the season after rejecting an offer of a new contract.

And the 24-year-old all-rounder has promptly signed for Nottinghamshire ahead of next season.

Durham chairman Sir Ian Botham said: "I would like to express my frustration at a number of issues.

"Paul - a player we have nurtured through our academy system and someone we hold in extremely high regard – has chosen to leave Durham. I respect Paul’s right to move clubs and understand that players at certain times in their careers may want to move on.

"However; it’s without question that our second division status, points penalties and difficult financial situation has created an opportunity for rival counties and intermediaries to unsettle players.

"It concerns me that the current arrangements within cricket do not reward counties that invest in academies and produce exciting young English players."

Coughlin has signed a three-year deal with Notts.

  7. wicket

WICKET Byrom (c Meaker b Clarke) 42published at 13:56 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Somerset 122-5 (39.6 overs) v Surrey

Rikki Clarke is having a marvellous spell and Somerset have gone from 96-0 two balls before lunch to now 122-5.

Ed Byrom is Clarke's fourth victim.

  8. wicket

WICKET Ervine (c Chopra b Harmer) 11published at 13:54 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Hampshire 144-5 (36.4 overs) v Essex

Simon Harmer is in the wickets for the first time today, having Sean Ervine caught well by Varun Chopra at slip.

The South African off-spinner is enjoying a good old battle with team mate Jamie Porter for the Division One highest wicket-taker spot.

Harmer (64), Porter (66) at present. Game on.

    Isabelle Duncan

There are strong rumours that they served paella in the press box at the Oval at lunch today.

    Paella.

No, we're not jealous at all.

This homemade roll that I had in the office was as average-poor as it looks.

    Roll

Anyone else out there had a belting lunch?

Jack Harrison: Feels a bit odd as a Worcs fan supporting Notts to go back ahead of us - but since a Notts win = promotion: Come on you Outlaws!

It's certainly complicated at the top of Division Two, but you are right Jack. If Northants do not beat Notts then Worcestershire will be promoted. Notts are, of course, likely to take the title, but any Rapids fan would be delighted with promotion I'm sure.

  12. wicket

WICKET Murphy (c Mullaney b Hutton) 0published at 13:40 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Northants 94-6 (34.3 overs) v Notts

Same combination does the trick once again for Notts as David Murphy falls for a duck.

Brett Hutton is bowling beautifully at Wantage Road.

  13. wicket

WICKET Simpson (c Davies b Bailey) 29published at 13:38 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Middlesex 89-7 (34.3 overs) v Lancashire

What a catch by Lancashire's Alex Davies! The wicket-keeper races across the ground and dives to pouch a top-edge off John Simpson.

That's Tom Bailey's fourth wicket. He has figures of 4-26. This Middlesex innings looks to be coming to an abrupt end.

  14. wicket

WICKET Vince (c Foster b Cook) 60published at 13:36 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Hampshire 121-4 (33.1 overs) v Essex

Live by the sword, die by the sword. James Vince attempts to force one off the back-foot through the covers, but succeeds only in giving James Foster a catch.

He scored 60 off 87 balls, but fails to cash in fully.

  15. Clarke's classpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Somerset 105-4 (34.0 overs) v Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

All change after lunch thanks to Rikki Clarke. He bowled well this morning without taking a wicket. But straight after lunch George Bartlett became his 400th first-class victim when he was caught at slip for 4. He then trapped James Hildreth lbw and after thinking he had Tom Abell first ball, he knocked the Somerset captain's off stump out of the ground. Proper, experienced quick bowling from Clarke.

  16. wicket

WICKET Abell (b Clarke) 0published at 13:32 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Somerset 105-4 (33.5 overs) v Surrey

Now he's gone! What a spell for Rikki Clarke.

There's no doubt about this one, as the Somerset captain's off stump goes flying.

Tom Abell is out for 0.

  17. wicket

WICKET Keogh (c Mullaney b Hutton) 15published at 13:31 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Northants 86-5 (33 overs) v Notts

Rob Keogh is gone as Brett Hutton and Luke Wood continue to wreak havoc at Wantage Road. It's a stunner of a catch from Steven Mullaney at second slip which does the trick.

Notts looking good to move back past Worcestershire into top spot in Division Two.

  18. Abell 'not out'published at 13:31 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Somerset 105-3 (33.2 overs) v Surrey

Surrey are celebrating... They think Rikki Clarke has taken Tom Abell's wicket in his first ball, caught at second slip... They're celebrating... But no.

Huge relief for Somerset. That could be a huge moment. Rory Burns evidently didn't quite make the catch.

  19. wicket

WICKET Hildreth (lbw b Clarke) 1published at 13:27 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Somerset 105-3 (33.1 overs) v Surrey

Rikki Clarke has another! James Hildreth lasted just five balls.

In comes Somerset captain Tom Abell - oh how they could do with a captain's innings from him now.

  20. 'Batting is by no means easy'published at 13:26 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Middlesex 81-6 (32 overs) v Lancashire

    Liam Bradford
    BBC Radio Manchester

The pitch has some large cracks in it and batting is by no means easy, the true tale of this game won't be told until both sides have batted. Lancashire are on top now, but they'll have to bat against Middlesex's seam attack.
