Surrey's win sees them zoom out of danger and up to second place on 159 points.

Somerset are 13 points behind Hampshire, who suffered a galling defeat to champions Essex.

Somerset face Middlesex at Taunton next week, while Hampshire travel to Edgbaston to play relegated Warwickshire with all still to play for.

Ollie Pope ends the game with a four off Dom Bess and Surrey have done it with six wickets and 8.2 overs to spare. It's Surrey's second win of the season to go with their 10 draws.

It's a gutting defeat for Somerset, whose final game of the season against Middlesex at Taunton will be a nervy affair.

This partnership is winning the game for Surrey. They've added 44 runs together.

Kent spent the best part of four days sitting looking at a wet outfield in Chesterfield as their game with Derbyshire descended into farce and was eventually abandoned.

Warwickshire captain Jonathan Trott told BBC WM:

"It's hard to exactly pinpoint what we could have done differently or where we lost it. It was a good partnership between Fisher and Patterson, so credit to them.

"We were good enough to get ourselves into the game, we just weren't good enough to get across the line.

"Losing is a bit of a habit, just like winning is. We are just finding a bit of a habit of getting ourselves in positions where we are behind the game and can't wrestle the momentum away."

It didn't take long. Graham Onions hits Chris Jordan to Luke Wright just six balls after the resumption.

Sussex will be delighted with a well-deserved win. Their bowlers have earned 21 points.

Big news for Middlesex and England, with the county confirming that Toby Roland-Jones has a stress fracture.

The 29-year-old will miss the rest of the domestic season, but more importantly, could miss England's Ashes tour.

A Middlesex statement read: "A scan Toby undertook yesterday has revealed that he has a stress fracture in his L5 vertebra (lower back), which will mean that he will take no further part in the domestic season for Middlesex."
