  1. Eng 44-0published at 5 overs

More runs! Jason Roy is loving this new Perth Stadium. There was swing early on but no longer and the ball is coming on nicely to his bat.

After being hit through the off side earlier in the over, Starc drifts onto the pads and Roy caresses the ball to the mid-wicket fence.

He has 37 from 25 balls. It's early but 330-plus could be what's needed here.

It just puts a little bit of doubt in your mind as a batsman when there is a bit of uneven bounce in the pitch but it has not affected Jason Roy, he is cracking them through the covers.

  3. Eng 39-0published at 4.4 overs

These boundaries aren't very long down the ground and J-Roy is taking advantage.

It's a length ball from Starc and the England opener just hits through the line past mid-off.

    Warner can't cut it off.

  4. Eng 34-0published at 4 overs

    Roy 28, Bairstow 1

    Crikey. What's happened here?

Hazlewood pitches one short but not too short and it takes off, flying over the head of Tim Paine for four byes.

Josh Hazlewood looks dangerous here but Roy finishes the over by smashing two drives through the off side.

Jason Roy has got England off to a flyer.

  5. Eng 21-0published at 3 overs

    Roy 20, Bairstow 1

There was no question about that decision. Starc's heel landed on the white line and then skidded forward a little. It was a really good take from Tim Paine too.

Roy tries to hit the free hit back to Adelaide but doesn't connect. The end of an eventful over.

Must be a great feeling for a batsman who has hit a few nice shots then nicked off to get another chance.

  7. Not outpublished at 2.5 overs

Full from Starc. Edged by Roy and caught by Tim Paine! The England opener is gone. Or is he?!

The umpire wants to check the no ball!

It's close, really close but there's nothing behind the line there! Not out and a no ball!

  8. 6 runs

    Eng 20-0published at 2.5 overs

First six at the Perth Stadium! Smashed down the ground from Jason Roy. Great shot!

  9. Eng 14-0published at 2.4 overs

There are some "oooooohs" from the Perth locals as Starc beats Roy outside off stump again.

Too short this time from the Aussie quick. Roy spins on the back foot and pulls for four.

The wind seems to be blowing straight down the ground so Hazlewood is bowling slightly into it.

  11. Eng 10-0published at 2 overs

Josh Hazlewood is finding a bit of swing again with this new ball and there's a fair bit of Waca-style bounce. Wicketkeeper Tim Paine takes the ball right up in front of his sunglasses for the rest of the over.

Jonny Bairstow can't lay bat on ball at the moment. He gets another tasty delivery but the ball passes his edge.

  12. Eng 9-0published at 1.1 overs

Here's Josh Hazlewood from the other end.

Full from the Aussie and Jason Roy goes hard. In the air and... safe! It goes through the off-side ring and away for the first boundary four.

Hazlewood is less than impressed by the shot.

This stadium is a cracker and it will be very interesting to see how this pitch plays, a drop in pitch with this sort of crazy paving look to it.

  14. Eng 5-0published at 1 over

    Roy 5, Bairstow 0

It is a strange looking pitch this one. It's got green lines, maybe cracks, all over it.

Jason Roy steals a single to allow Bairstow onto strike for the final ball and Starc beats the Yorkeshireman with a beauty.

A entertaining start and already better for England than the other day.

For me this squad is one of the best ever to represent England in an ODI so I'm excited to see how they go at this brand new stadium.

  16. Eng 4-0published at 0.1 overs

If you needed an idea of how big these boundaries are, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow have just run four on the first ball!

Plenty of swing on from Starc but a clip off the legs from Roy out to square leg gets him off the mark.

A couple of practice games aside, this is the first cricket to be played on this ground.

No one has any idea how it'll play.

Mitchell Starc has the ball. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow are in the middle.

    Here we go.

England may have to give themselves five overs, which is not a lot in a 50 over game, just to see it maybe leave a few balls and find the pace of the pitch.

It looks a lovely day in Perth. Bright sunshine and none of the rare Western Australia rain we saw in the Test series.

This is a day game by the way so there will be little change in conditions.

The start of play is a couple of minutes away.

More from Eoin Morgan: "The ground looks outstanding. It is a little bit like a smaller MCG but it looks like really good cricket ground."
