    Need 143 from 174 balls

England need to get Stoinis out otherwise they have no hope. He looks so good.

Stoinis is really impressing. Rashid was cut for four the previous ball, and when the bowler over-compensates he is lofted back over his head.

  3. 6 runs

    Aus 177-2published at 20.3 overs

Smith struggling but Stoinis is in the groove.

Too short from Rashid and he cuts to point boundary.

And now a six! Big from the well-built number three. He hardly puts any effort in and the ball still carries way back.

  4. Aus 106-2published at 20 overs

    Run rate 5.30

Moeen Ali is back after a very expensive first over earlier on.

Smith is struggling for timing. If this was anyone else you'd say he was in horrible nick as the Aussie captain almost plays right around a regulation off-break but since it's Steve Smith we're talking about I'm well aware he could go on to make 100 looking like this.

    Four singles from Moeen's over.

This is starting to feel like an England in 2014 ODI. Average at best score ending in 8 wicket defeat with 86 balls remaining.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Stoinispublished at 19 overs

    Need 158 from 186 balls

England have kept Stoinis quiet for the last 20 minutes or so but he collects a single to reach a well-made half century. That takes Australia beyond 100 but Smith is frustrated on the final ball as he fails to time a half volley.

  7. Aus 98-2published at 18 overs

    Stoinis 49, Smith 6

After a tight start Jake Ball bangs one in too short and the umpire correctly calls for a wide. Jos Buttler actually did well to prevent four wides there.

Ball is back on the money for the rest of the over. He's bowled an impressive 16 dots from his four overs so far. The seamer has not bowled since the opening Test of the tour way back in November but has started well.

Adil Rashid deserves a lot of credit for the run-rate slowing. He's got Steve Smith out a few times in this series and Smith doesn't look comfortable at all facing him.

  9. Aus 95-2published at 17 overs

    Target 260

There's the slightest hint of spin for Adil Rashid. He's already dismissed Australia captain Steve Smith twice in this series and is tossing it outside off stump again. Smith sees out the over but isn't looking very fluent. He has just five from his first 10 balls.

He was obviously just testing out the security at the new ground. They weren't quick off the mark, were they?

    Streaker update...

He's been wiped out by a high tackle from a steward.

    The crowd boo.

  12. Aus 92-2published at 16.1 overs

The first ball after the drinks break is a full toss from Adil Rashid.

And we have a streaker! The crowd love it. Marcus Stoinis thinks it's hilarious.

The intruder has made his way right to the middle.

  13. drinks break

    Aus 89-2published at 16 overs

    Target 260

England will be happy to have removed Travis Head after his 96 in the previous match but Stoinis has looked the danger man here. He's hit five fours and two sixes already but now Ball restricts him to just a single.

Smith gets another one to get off zero and then Ball bowls another dot to Stoinis. Good stuff from Ball.

  14. Aus 87-2published at 15 overs

173 to win from 35 overs

Another excellent over from Adil Rashid. He hasn't taken a wicket but he's doing his job. Just one run from this over after only conceding two in the last. Five dots to start to Smith. He's still yet to score.

I think that's the right decision. It was tight, but the benefit of doubt should go to the batsman.

  16. Not outpublished at 14.2 overs

Close, very close but Steve Smith survives. From one angle it looked like he might be struggling to get his toe back but from the others it seems he's just got something behind the line. A few millimetres in it.

  17. Umpire reviewpublished at 08:40 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2018

Have England got Smith stumped? Lovely flight from Rashid and Smith lunges forward but misses. Buttler whips the bails off so, so, quick and this is tight. England are confident.

Steve Smith is the new batsman. Big roar as he comes out.

That is a terrific bit of fielding from Morgan - he was the only person in the ground who realised the run out was on.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14 overs

Head run out 22 (Morgan) (Aus 86-2)

From nowhere! Brilliant from England's skipper.

Stoinis drops the ball on the off side for a single and both players run well. Eoin Morgan swoops in from point, collects the ball and fires down the stumps with a rocket throw.

Morgan doesn't even really appeal or celebrate, the Aussies even run a second run after the deflection off the stumps. But the umpires take it upstairs and Head's bat is on the line but not over. That is out!
