Will Buttler dab a single off the last ball of the over to keep the strike?

    Will he heck.

A bit of width and Buttler slices a drive away square for four more. He's on to 80.

The umpires have come together. The ball's lost. It's probably landed on the rugby pitch. I think that would have hit the new roof on the new stand - and that's a new stand that is three tiers.

That has gone miles! What a shot! What a sound off the bat that made.

    Bang!

Jos Buttler stands and delivers, whacking Faheem miles back over his head deep into the stands.

That's gone into the construction site! They're going to need a new ball!

Jos Buttler hoists it away towards Usman Salahuddin running in, but the Pakistan debutant can't quite get there and the ball slips past his hand and away to the fence.

James Anderson plays and misses at the first but then gets a thickish outside edge to pick up one and put Jos Buttler on strike.

    Fireworks?

The thing to notice at the fall of the Broad wicket was Buttler's reaction. He threw his head back and looked accusingly at Broad, as if to say "why did you do that?" Broad shrugged and trudged off.

That is the way to bowl to Stuart Broad. You bowl aggressively, but that is a tremendous catch. It's difficult to pick the ball up out of that side of the crowd and he's had to dive low down.

That was an expertly taken catch by Mohammad Abbas.

Stuart Broad was obviously expecting plenty of short stuff and he decides to take on a Faheem Ashraf bouncer with the hook shot.

Oh that's an excellent catch by Mohammad Abbas at fine leg, running around to snaffle it with a low dive.

James Anderson is the next and last man in - how long can he stick around in support of Jos Buttler?

He's just hit two fours in a row but Buttler brought up his fifty with a six earlier...

This is fabulous stuff from Buttler. He's standing and delivering. His return to the England set-up is looking like an Ed Smith masterstroke.

Jos Buttler goes for another mow and again has to settle for just one.

Stuart Broad looks edgy but Hasan Ali sends down a bit of width that he can attack with a flashing blade and pick up a single.

Hello! Hasan strays short and Buttler marmalises a pull shot to the fence.

My oh my that is beautiful, Buttler makes it back-to-back boundaries with a sweet drive. The ball was moving but he still clattered it off the middle.

Richard Boylan from Huddersfield: What an absolutely disgraceful decision from the third umpire. There was no evidence - for certainty that the call was caught.

    Two key pieces of evidence:

    1. The soft signal was not out
    2. The player in question immediately asked for the decision to go upstairs.

Third umpires cannot (or should not) overrule soft signals when there is not 100% evidence that the wrong soft signal was made.

Jos Buttler is going to tee off now, charging down the wicket at Faheem and trying an almighty heave that just brings a single.

Faheem then tests Stuart Broad out with a short ball that the England bowler swerves out of the way of.

His batting has not been the same since he was hit by that Varun Aaron bouncer at Old Trafford in 2014.

He averaged 23.95 before that and 14.12 since.

A tight, brave call by the third umpire to give this out and I think a fair one.

    Agree? Disagree? Have a look...

Jos Buttler's 50 came from 92 balls, with seven fours and one six.

I make that the second highest total a team has reached before someone got to fifty.

A good first half hour for England, despite the loss of Sam Curran.

Jos Buttler is looking in fine touch, moving his side's lead above 150.

This is exactly what you want from Jos Buttler. The drive before that was absolutely perfect: weight transfer, foot movement, not trying to over-hit it. It's been thoroughly entertaining.

I don't think Buttler hit that absolutely cleanly, but it flew own to the building site.
