    Target 269

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan drop a few singles here and there, before Rohit wafts a drive at another quick delivery from Wood and ends up pushing at fresh air.

Wood then takes a tumble in his follow through, foot just slipping out from underneath him.

It'll be a huge test for us if Kuldeep does play in the Test series. I have always found that the white ball is a bit easier to pick with mystery spinners.

I remember Muralitharan and with the black seam on the white ball, you could kind of pick it up. But with the red ball it is a lot harder so I always used to play Murali off the pitch - and it didn't really help too much!

  3. Ind 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Mark Wood will open the bowling for England - ooft, and he beats Rohit Sharma with a beauty first up!

That's not a million miles away from the outside edge, Wood cranking up his pace a touch and watching the ball just slide past the stumps.

Right, here we go. Run chase time.

India need 269 to win and take a 1-0 lead in this three match series. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are out there, as are the England fielders.

And although there were moments where England looked as though they may hit out...

...the tail couldn't wag any further. The hosts were dismissive for 268 with one ball remaining.

Andy Gould: So - England lost in the semis, the clouds have rolled in, and the cricketers are confused by a mystery spin bowler. All is again right with the world.

There were fifties for Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes but they soon fell to Kuldeep Yadav, who went on to dismiss David Willey with the final ball of his 10 over spell.

He ended the England innings with figures of 6-25 - his first five-wicket haul in one-day cricket and the best figures by a spinner against England in ODI cricket.

James Pratt: I’m absolutely convinced Morgan hasn’t bailed the team out in ages. He’s patchy form-wise and only ever scores when it’s piling on and never to get us out of a hole. Why is he never in the conversation around which batsman to drop?

When Eoin Morgan fell, England were 105-4 and wobbling...

But Jos Buttler, along with Ben Stokes, guided England through a relative period of calm as they rebuilt to 198-4.

But then Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm spinner who tormented England during the Twenty20 series, was brought into the attack.

In the space of 10 balls, he dismantled England's top order.

Right, let's have a little recap of that innings, shall we?

It all started so well for England, with Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy getting the hosts to 73-0 in the opening 10 overs.

Australia spinner Ashton Agar returned 1-70 in that match (seamer Andrew Tye's nine overs went for 100), when England hit 290 in boundaries in alone. Today though, they came up against Kuldeep Yadav, who was brought into the attack to bowl the 11th over and struck with his second ball.

Trent Bridge has been a happy hunting ground for England, with the two highest ODI totals posted there, that 481-6 against Australia last month top of the list of course. Alex Hales made big hundreds in both of those matches on his home ground but he was ruled out through injury this morning.

England can't just depend on Jos Buttler all the time in one-day cricket. You feel as though he's such a key component in this side and when he strikes, you know England are going to get big scores and chase down challenging totals. Somehow, that middle order is going to have to get used to Kuldeep.

Plunkett run out 9 (Eng 268 all out)

There was a four down the ground from Plunkett but he perishes in pursuit of a second run and England, from 71-0 after 10 overs, are all out with one ball unused. That's not going to be enough against this India batting line-up on this pitch is it? We shall see. A target of 269 at 5.38 per over is unlikely to unsettle Kohli over the sandwiches at the interval.
