Back to normality. The over ends with another beauty from Anderson that comes within a millimetre of finding the edge of Pujara's bat and a second wicket. Are there tougher tasks in sport than facing Anderson in conditions like this? Roger Federer on Centre Court? The All Blacks at Eden Park?

theUNOFISHAL: Nine to go...oh Jimmy Jimmy.

Rich Kisbee: Rather handy with the ball, this Anderson fella.

Rich Scales: No-one should dig at Root, he obviously wants England to not have to bat again. Blame the umpires yesterday for losing time with the decision to come off... in a stadium with floodlights

A rare bad ball from Jimmy Anderson. KL Rahul clips another boundary off his pads. I think Anderson was searching for the magic ball there.

It’s seriously filled in over the pavilion, we may not get a huge amount of more play. But that suggests these are the perfect conditions [to bowl].

A colleague next to me is on weather radar watch. He says there is a small bit of wet stuff near Lord's now, then a break in the rain before the seriously bad weather arrives within the hour. India get their first runs when Stuart Broad overpitches and KL Rahul drives for four.

There is the tiniest bit of mizzle in the air. It is windy out there, too. Essentially, these are horrible conditions for batting in.

Lord's groans in unison as Anderson swings one past Pujara's bat. I'll never ever get bored of watching Jimmy bowl like this. A wicket maiden. The bowling coach applauds from the balcony.

I can see the rain falling now. Murali Vijay might have only needed to hold on a few more minutes. Cheteshwar Pujara is the new batsman. Can Anderson take more wickets before the rain becomes too heavy?

Brilliant ball coming back down the slope, unplayable in these conditions, down the slope under the cloud. India’s reply has got off to the worst possible start.

It doesn't take Jimmy long! He's got Murali Vijay for a duck in both innings with two beautiful deliveries. The first innings was a stunning awayswinger and this is the nip-backer off the pitch. It catches Vijay's inside edge before being gobbled up by Bairstow.

That's Anderson's 100th wicket at the home of cricket. He holds the ball up to the crowd.

This is why England are bowling. They declared after Sam Curran was caught taking the attack to the Indian bowlers.

They’ll be happier facing Broad because he’s a hit the deck bowler rather than a swing bowler, but I still think he’s a brilliant bowler. He was the main reason we won at Edgbaston, got those vital early wickets to give England belief. Don’t write him off, he has years left in him.

There's no swing for Broad but a bit of movement off the pitch. Jonny Bairstow gets a little excited at one which jags back a little. Groundsman Mick Hunt has appeared near the boundary. The rain is coming I fear.

Carl Carritt: I'd open the bowling with Anderson & Woakes. Relegate Broad and his military medium to first change. He can't even get it swinging. It might rile him up enough to elicit a magic spell from him.

The wind is picking up at Lord's too. The flags are billowing and it's whipping away at the straggly hair peeking out of the back of Murali Vijay's helmet. There's swing for Anderson. A maiden to start.

James Anderson will start, obviously. He already has five wickets in this match. He bowled India opener Murali Vijay with a pearler in the first innings.

There are a few spots of rain on the camera lens. This was the problem if England batted this morning. Have they just wasted 40 minutes of bowling time?
