Here come in the Indian openers.

Virat Kohli will not be able to bat if the first two wickets fall within 37 minutes of this innings because of the time he missed in the field this morning.

Ruth Brooksbanks: At last!! Biggest cheer of the day for that declaration. Now just the small matter off bowling India out.

Neil Kennedy: There is one possible reason for England batting on - Indian batsmen can see how much the ball is moving, automatically placing doubt in their minds. Another five-for to Jimmy?

Leon Lewis: I've gone from not thinking they should pick Woakes for this Test to insisting he should open the bowling instead of Broad. He swings it more, with greater control and it's his Test match

So. There could be some rain around within the next 45 minutes. The ball is swinging. Virat Kohli's got a stiff back. This could be quite a messy little session for India...

England added 39 runs in just under 40 minutes of play. Was that worth it? This is the forecast for the rest of the day although it did say it would be raining by now earlier.

Good on Sam Curran for throwing his wicket away looking for four more runs. I’m annoyed because this was ideal bowling conditions for swing bowling. Any way you look at it, they have batted on too long this morning in my opinion.

If the weather holds, it'll be game over today given the way India play swing bowling. Had England bowled in this session, they would have had four wickets.

Woakes waves his bat to all corners of Lord's as he makes his way off. He finishes 137 not out. A fine, fine innings. Now for some bowling...

And now Joe Root waves Chris Woakes in. England declare on 396-7 with a lead of 289.

Sam Curran goes again. He tries to whack the ball to central London but is caught in the deep.

Now Woakes is on the attack. He doesn't find the middle but still gets four. Are England waiting for Woakes' 150 or the lead to be 300?

Mamma Mia 2 is the worst film I have ever seen, but even that’s better than this decision to bat on here. It's swinging around corners!

Joe Root has appeared on the England balcony. He's wrapping tape around his fingers. Is this the sign a declaration is coming?

He’s almost ducked his way into it and slapped it. It’s almost like a second serve, 100 metres and over the square leg boundary!

Curran backs away to leg and whacks through the off side for four and then swats a ridiculous looking six over square leg. He was almost looking at the ground when he hit that.

This is England on the charge.

Chris Clarke: Surely England need to declare - we won’t lose from here and the weather forecast is poor. Worst case would surely be that India rack up 400 and the match would be drawn anyway - we’ve got a big lead, need 10 wickets, the ball is swinging and rain is due - get them in!!

Juxtaposed: Hope India play the low over rate and delay tactics. Will show Root that not declaring was a stupid decision. Waste time India. The rain is minutes away.

Sam Curran has just brought up Ishant Sharma's century with an aggressive pull through mid-wicket. The 20-year-old looks like he might be about to take the attack to the bowling. He tries to whack Ishant over the off side with an ambitious swish but misses.

In other news I've just found out a colleague sat opposite me took a minus offer when they went on The Chase. That still hasn't angered me as much as the lack of an England declaration.

I'm not sure how Mohammed Shami hasn't got a wicket here. He's beaten Chris Woakes' bat eight times in three overs. Woakes hardly missed a ball yesterday but today the ball is just zipping past his edge over and over again.

Simon: ref Paul Cotterill - I think the English seam bowlers are able to get India out for 250 on this pitch. England are wasting time batting on now.

Andrew Busby: England. Why. Are. You. Batting?

Rebecca: As much as I love Chris Woakes’ batting because he sounds like Tommy Shelby in his interviews, I’d far rather watch him bowl!

I'm currently up to the final episode of series two of Peaky Blinders. No spoilers.

Woakes ticks along with another boundary, this one a much better shot, despite the best efforts of Kuldeep Yadav on the deep cover rope. There is still no imminent sign of the rain which is forecast. It's overcast - there is no blue sky to be seen - but the clouds are relatively high.
