Summary

  • England lose all 10 wickets in afternoon session; bowled out for 161

  • Third time in two years England have lost all 10 wickets in a session

  • That didn't happen once in previous 78 years (1938-2016)

  • Five wickets for Pandya & five catches for debutant keeper Pant

  • Earlier, India fell from overnight 307-6 to 329 all out (Kohli 97, Anderson 3-64)

  • England lead five-match series 2-0

  1. Ind 90-1published at 16 overs

    Dhawan 31, Pujara 22

This is now the best time to bat. The sun is out and India have completely taken the home crowd out of the contest. The lead so big that it also means Root can only have one close fielder for Rashid. The field is spread but Pujara picks the gap twice. India keep rattling along.

  2. Ind 81-1published at 15 overs

    Dhawan 30, Pujara 14

We're going to have some leg spin. This could be the innings where Adil Rashid makes up for the overs he didn't get in the last match as Root gives his seamers a rest. Jonny Bairstow calls for the helmet.

81-1 in no time. This is a Test match but it hasn't felt like one today.

  4. Ind 81-1published at 15 overs

    Lead by 249

At what point does Joe Root just scream "make this stop"?. Dhawan collects four more. Drinks come onto the field. I'd love to know what Root can say to his players to lift them. It'd have to be some speech.

Pujara plays 'glorious' shot for four

OK maybe I was wrong. Che Pujara is now going at over a run a ball after two boundaries off Stokes. He may be out of nick but the first is beautiful. An on-drive which whistles away.

Pujara is at the crease because Stokes dismissed KL Rahul. Here is that wicket...

The openers may have been aggressive but that's not Pujara's game. He lets Woakes' over go by. Who reckons India have already got enough runs?

The ball is still moving around so there is still something there for the bowlers. We have seen once the lacquer starts to wear off there is more movement.

  10. Ind 66-1published at 12 overs

    Dhawan 23, Pujara 6

England have their first breakthrough but India are still effectively 228-1.

Make that 232-1. New batsman Chesteshwar Pujara gets a poor delivery from Stokes and a tickle gets him four. Stokes is left shaking his head when an edgy defensive stroke gives Pujara two more.

England have to restrict India to no more than 150 because getting more than 300 is not going to be easy.

    Rahul b Stokes 36 (Ind 60-1)

A huge roar from Ben Stokes. England have a wicket! That's the all-rounder's first on his return to the team. It's a good delivery too which dips in and beats KL Rahul's ambitious drive before clattering into the timber.

  13. Ind 59-0published at 11 overs

Blue sky is now appearing over Trent Bridge to make matters worse for England. The light still isn't great though. England have managed to slow the Rahul Express down just a little, hitting him a couple of times on the pad.

Pre-IPL there would have been a lot of kerfuffle between these two teams. Sharing dressing rooms has certainly eased tensions between these players.

  17. Ind 56-0published at 10 overs

    Lead by 224

He's done it again! Just like in the first innings Ben Stokes has collided with an Indian batsman when sprinting furiously to try and stop a single. Again it's Dhawan involved who he makes contact with and Stokes ends up on the floor while the opener drops his bat before sprinting to try and make his ground. The pair both shake hands and have a smile. There's no animosity there.

Stokes is less than pleased now though as an inside edge goes down to fine-leg for four. The Englishman barks something in frustration.

The fifty partnership in just 50 balls. The first time since 1986 in England that India have had a 50 opening partnership in both innings.
