  • England lead five-match series 2-0

  1. Ind 17-0published at 2.2 overs

    Dhawan 10, Rahul 7

India's openers might look to press on here and really take this game completely out of England's reach.

With a flick of the wrists Anderson is dispatched to the boundary by Rahul.

Technically and mentally, a lot of England's dismissals were very poor.

  3. Ind 13-0published at 2 overs

    Lead by 181

Broad's over is a little more threatening than what we just saw from Anderson as he aims for KL Rahul's pad for the majority.

The sky is about as dark as most England fans' mood. The floodlights are making the new ball glisten in Stuart Broad's hand and Shikhar Dhawan gets away with one at the end of the over. A leading edge lobs just over extra cover.

Last night I said I was looking forward to seeing how England batted once the opposition had a score on the board, and they made the same mistakes they have made consistently for a number of years. I have learnt nothing about this team this summer.

Can they bowl an opposition team out when it doesn't swing? There's still the same old issues with their catching. And the batting, when they are under pressure... I don't understand why they were bowled out in 38 overs.

Stuart Broad was very good earlier this morning. He needs another 8-15-type spell to give England any chance.

It's not good light at the moment but it's not dangerous. Just get on with it unless there's a fear somebody could get injured.

  8. Ind 8-0published at 1 over

    Dhawan 8, Rahul 0

The only positive for England is it is very dark at Trent Bridge. It should swing.

Another four to Dhawan ends the over. Eight from it. India lead by 176.

There's been a touch of deja vu to England's batting today.

  10. Ind 4-0published at 0.2 overs

Jimmy Anderson is on a hat-trick after taking two wickets with the final two balls of India's first innings just a matter of hours ago. Dhawan sees off the first ball and then drives for four on the second.

Anderson ends up in a heap on the floor after stumbling in his delivery stride. That just about sums up England's day.

Cheers JL but what have you done? I left you with England 46-0. Now I'm live-texting with India batting for the second time in the day.

India are already effectively 168-0 as Joe Root tries to rouse his troops in a huddle.

Pathetic is how I'd describe England's batting. If you have any better ways of describing England in one word then fire away. Keep it clean please.

We got there. So, a deficit of 168 and to see if England can somehow find a way back into this match on an extraordinary day, here's Matt Henry again.

But it was one too many for England's middle order blaster and he was out for 39, England all out for 161.

England added 33 for the final wicket, Jos Buttler delighting the spectators with two mighty sixes.

Hardik Pandya soon recorded his maiden five-wicket haul and returned a six-over spell of 5-28, Stuart Broad his fifth victim and not much doubt about this lbw.

  16. Postpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 19 August 2018

Adil Rashid soon followed, caught behind, and it was 128-8, a fifth catch for debutant wicketkeeper Pant.

Hopefully we will have time to go through all these wickets before the final session begins. Chris Woakes was the next man to go. Fresh from his unbeaten century at Lord's, he began with consecutive boundaries but he was caught behind, a decision confirmed after a review.

  18. Postpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 19 August 2018

Slip fielder KL Rahul claimed his third catch and Jonny Bairstow was on his way for 15 to make it 110-6.

  19. Postpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 19 August 2018

Two fours for Ben Stokes but he soon fell at slip for 10 and it was 108-5.

  20. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 19 August 2018

A big moment in the 25th over, England captain Joe Root given out for 16. He was convinced it had not carried but eventually it was confirmed and it was 86-4.
