  1. 50 runs

for Chris Nashpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Somerset 392 v Nottinghamshire 134 & 267-3 (79 overs)

Chris Nash cover drives Dom Bess for four to bring up his fifty off 117 balls. Just as importantly for Notts, they are now in the lead with seven wickets still remaining. Having been outplayed for most of this match so far, are we about to see a turnaround? The new ball is coming up very soon, though.

  2. wicket

WICKET Weatherley run out 50published at 14:26 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Surrey 368 v Hampshire 135 & 107-4 (40 overs)

What a blow that is for Hampshire as Joe Weatherley is run out following a mis-field. Lewis McManus is the new batsman and they are still 126 away from making Surrey bat again.

  3. Leicestershire make cautious startpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Northamptonshire 204 & 229 v Leicestershire 217 & 33-1 (13 overs)

No major alarms for Leicestershire after lunch at Wantage Road, and they need another 184 to complete victory over Northants. Lewis Hill is 21 not out, with Paul Horton on nine. Will there be a wobble for the Foxes, or will it be plain sailing? Watch this space.

  4. WICKET Hameed c Wheater b Porter 4published at 14:21 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Lancashire 12-3 (4.3 overs) & 301, Essex 302

Haseeb Hameed's personal misery goes on as he is caught behind off Jamie Porter's third ball after lunch.

Just 44 runs scored by the discarded England opener now in eight Championship innings this season.

Maybe England's selectors should be looking more at the man who got him out?

  5. 50 runs

for Joe Weatherleypublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Joe WeatherleyImage source, Rex Features

A sudden spurt of boundaries carries Hampshire's opener to a 121-ball half-century against Surrey. There are three in one over off Jade Dernbach - the first two driven either side of square and the third dabbed down to third man - and he then picks up another off Morne Morkel to reach his fifty. It's the third in first-class cricket for the 21-year-old.

  6. ECB rule on lost playpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Lancashire 6-2 (4 overs) & 301, Essex 302

The ECB have made a ruling on that half-hour delay caused by a male spectator being taken ill at Old Trafford.

Nine overs have been lost in the day, which means that a further 66 are now scheduled to be bowled in the final two sessions.

Tea will be take, whatever, at 10 past 4.

  7. Crucial session for Hampshirepublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Surrey 368 v Hampshire 135 & 87-3 (37 overs)

Morne Morkel has the ball after lunch for Surrey, but fellow South African Rilee Rossouw shows him little respect when he strays just too wide of off stump and flat bats it though the covers for four. Rossouw has nine and Joe Weatherley is 33 not out. Hampshire need another 146 to make Surrey bat again.

  8. Notts start steadily after lunchpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Somerset 392 v Nottinghamshire 134 & 236-3 (67 overs)

Chris Nash and Samit Patel have survived the initial overs after lunch at Taunton. Josh Davey and Roelof van der Merwe are doing the bowling for Somerset, who may be keeping Lewis Gregory and Craig Overton back with the new ball only 13 overs away. Notts now just 22 short of clearing their deficit.

Interesting fare for the BBC commentary crew (see below). That icing is quite startling - but bet it tastes good.

South Africans Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel are on opposite sides for Hampshire and Surrey at the Ageas Bowl. Are they good signings? And how do they measure up in terms of the great international fast bowlers? Here are a couple of your opinions.

From Ettiene Terblanche: "Steyn and Morkel: All Time Greats! ...Or at least All Time Very Goods! Surrey and Hants lucky to see them in action. Both a bit past peak, but Morkel has become a canny bowler, and was stellar against Australia #bbccricket, external"

From Ralph Brooker: "@hants cricket missing Amla. Not sure if Steyn was the right move. Morkel, on the other hand, a handful still. #HantsvSurrey, external#bbccricket, external"

  10. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Lancashire 6-2 (3 overs) & 301, Essex 302

Haseeb Hameed is off the mark with a four - and Lancashire are back in front again at Old Trafford.

But, in the context of the final outcome of this match, what damage have county champions Essex done in those first three pre-lunch overs?

  11. Surrey scent victory at Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Surrey 368 v Hampshire 135 & 77-3 - lunch

Amar Virdi has taken two wickets for SurreyImage source, Rex Features

Surrey will go top of the Division One table - pending the result of the Somerset v Notts game - if they are able to force a victory over Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl today.

The wicket of Sean Ervine in the penultimate over of the morning was a major setback for Hampshire, but opener Joe Weatherley has batted with patience and common sense to make 32 not out from 101 balls.

Hampshire are still 156 in arrears, having been asked to follow on, and they need someone to play a major innings.

  12. WICKET Davies c A Cook b S Cook 0published at 13:25 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Lancashire 0-2 (1.2 overs) & 301, Essex 302

Another early strike for Essex as Sam Cook has Alex Davies caught at second slip by Alastair Cook.

Home skipper Liam Livingstone is next man in.

The visitors still lead by one run. Most definitely Essex's morning now. Their fielders in chirpy mood. Time for another Jamie Porter over before they all sit down for lunch.

  13. Harte holds key for Durhampublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Durham 96 & 274-8 v Derbyshire 205 - lunch

Derbyshire finally got rid of Nathan Rimmington just before lunch, with Matt Critchley trapping him lbw for 42. His stand with Gareth Harte added 104 to the Durham total and they lead by 165.

Crucially for the home side, Harte is still there on 56, having batted for 214 minutes so far, and they will be hoping he can push the lead on beyond 200 if possible.

  14. WICKET Jennings c Harmer b Porter 0published at 13:21 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Lancashire 0-1(0.5 overs) & 301, Essex 302

Great start for Essex. Having tested Keaton Jennings with every ball, Jamie Porter finally snares the current England opener caught at second slip for a duck with his fifth delivery.

Jennings got a decent 29 on his Test recall against Pakistan at Headingley last week - but he has not looked comfortably against the Essex attack in this match, making only 19 in his two innings.

Haseeb Hameed is next man in. He survives his first ball.

  15. Kent look to spinnerspublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Kent 582-9 dec v Gloucestershire 124-6 - lunch

    Matt Cole
    Sports Editor, BBC Radio Kent

Kent made early progress towards their target of an innings victory at Bristol, with New Zealand pace bowler Matt Henry once again their champion – first dismissing Jack Taylor, who dragged onto his stumps for 33, then producing the ball of the morning to bowl Ryan Higgins through the gate for nine.

After that an obdurate partnership between Graeme van Buuren (48*) and Kieran Noema-Barnett (15*) has slowed the visitors’ progress, the pair mostly untroubled for 20 overs before lunch.

Kent will be hoping this worn pitch will give extra assistance to the spin of Adam Riley and Joe Denly, and there have been one or two signs of grip and very occasional lift.

    Glamorgan 220 & 145-4 v Warwickshire 250 - lunch

    Clive Eakin
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Sport

The match at Edgbaston has moved on at a pace on day three and is building up towards a thrilling finish.

Glamorgan scored well, adding 90 runs in the session, to build their lead to 115. Most of them were scored by Australian Test player Usman Khawaja, who has batted with aggressive purpose on his debut for the visitors.

Crucially, he's still there on 59 at lunch but Warwickshire's seamers have chipped away at the other end claiming four wickets. Teenager Henry Brookes has taken two, to enhance his growing reputation.

  18. wicket

WICKET Ervine c Clarke b Virdi 10published at 13:13 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Surrey 368 v Hampshire 135 & 77-3 (32 overs)

Lunch has been delayed at the Ageas Bowl following rain on the opening day of the game and Surrey strike again as Amar Virdi produces a perfect off-spinner's dismissal of a left-hander. He floats it up outside off stump, Sean Ervina tries to drive, but edges a catch into the safe hands of Rikki Clarke at slip. Hampshire still 157 behind as Rilee Rossouw comes out to join Joe Weatherley, who is 31 not out.

  19. Result in balance at Wantage Roadpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Northamptonshire 204 & 229 v Leicestershire 217 & 1-1 - lunch

Only one more over was possible before lunch after the dismissal of Harry Dearden (see 1:02 entry) and it was a maiden from Ben Sanderson to Lewis Hill.

Leicestershire need another 216 for victory, while Northants need nine more wickets. The result - anyone's guess at this stage.

  20. Satisfactory morning for Nottspublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 11 June 2018

    Somerset 392 v Nottinghamshire 134 & 231-3 - lunch

Tom Abell bowls the final over before the interval at Taunton and Nottinghamshire collect three singles. They are just 27 away from avoiding an innings defeat, with Chris Nash 39 not out and Samit Patel on 19.

Steven Mullaney and Jake Libby earlier extended their overnight partnership to 145 before both departed in the space of seven overs - with Mullaney lbw to Roelof van der Merwe just six runs short of a century. The spinner also bowled Ross Taylor and has figures of 2-44 so far.
