  1. Worcs 27-2published at 6th over

    Clarke 11, Mitchell 0

One ball to face in the over for new batsman Daryl Mitchell, and he offers no stroke as Harry Podmore's final delivery passes outside off stump. This is an important partnership for Worcestershire as they look to build a platform for their innings.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    Ferguson lbw Podmore 13

Uppish by Joe Clarke but it's safely into a gap at mid-wicket and he collects two runs.

But there's a huge blow for Kent as Callum Ferguson moves across his stumps and is adjudged lbw by umpire Neil Mallender. The Aussie wasn't convinced by that decision, but he's gone.

  3. Worcs 22-1published at 11:21 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    Clarke 6, Ferguson 13

Callum Ferguson cracks the ball away off the back foot, but smart fielding by Heino Kuhn at point denies him a run. It's the only show of aggression in a maiden over by Matt Henry.

  4. Worcs 22-1published at 4th over

    Clarke 6, Ferguson 13

Worcestershire's bowling attack is inexperienced, so they will be looking for a big total, having chosen to bat first. Joe Clarke and Callum Ferguson are men in form, as the latter underlines by swishing Harry Podmore away past point for another four.

Matt Henry is searching for early wickets, there is cloud cover and it will be interesting if it swings here.

You will get barely two overs of swing if you're lucky with this white ball.

  6. Worcs 16-1published at 3rd over

    Clarke 5, Ferguson 8

Callum Ferguson is quickly off the mark, with a flick of the wrists bringing him a boundary through square leg as Imran Qayyum's dive is in vain. It's followed with two solid strokes through the covers, both of earn a couple for the Australian.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2.2 overs

    Rhodes c Kuhn b Henry 2

Matt Henry goes past the outside edge with the first delivery of his second over, but there is no gap from the next one as George Rhodes edges into the slips where Heino Kuhn dives to take a fine catch.

  8. Worcs 8-0published at 2nd over

    Rhodes 2, Clarke 5

Former Middlesex seamer Harry Podmore takes the new ball from the other end and yields a couple of singles before Joe Clarke strokes the game's first boundary through extra cover.

  9. Worcs 1-0published at 1st over

    Rhodes 1, Clarke 0

An accurate start by Matt Henry, the most successful bowler in county cricket this summer, but George Rhodes is under way with a quick single from the third delivery.

Joe Clarke avoids a repeat of his golden duck against Warwickshire in their final group game, but plays out three dot balls to end the over.

Any overseas signing coming into a new dressing room wants to make an early impact.

And boy, did batsman Callum Ferguson do that after arriving at New Road to replace fellow Australian Travis Head in Worcestershire' One-Day Cup squad.

He marked his debut with 192 off 143 balls against Leicestershire, a new county record score for limited-overs cricket, as they chased down a target of 377, and also made an unbeaten 159 against Northants.

In the absence of injured Joe Leach, he has the added responsibility of captaining the side as they look to reach the final at Lord's by beating Kent, but does have experience to draw on having led home state South Australia in one-day cricket when Head was on international duty.

    One-Day Cup semi-final (play starts 11:00 BST)

Worcestershire are looking to reach their first Lord's final since 2004, when they lost to Gloucestershire in the C&G Trophy.

Kent's last visit to the home of cricket was in 2008 when they were beaten by Essex in the FP Trophy final - Joe Denly and Darren Stevens are survivors from the team on that occasion.

Neither side has a great record in Lord's finals - Kent have won five times in 14 visits, Worcestershire just twice in 11.

  13. In-form pair carry Spitfires forwardpublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

It's been very much the Heino and Joe show for Kent in the One-Day Cup.

Heino Kuhn and Joe Denly have scored a combined 1,017 runs between them in Kent's run to the semi-finals - Kuhn 537 and Denly 380.

South African Kuhn, signed following Sam Northeast's departure to Hampshire over the winter, is one ahead in terms of centuries, with his unbeaten 124 off 114 balls in the quarter-final win over Notts his third so far in the competition.

Getting rid of them both cheaply when Kent bat later in the day would certainly be a huge boost to Worcestershire's chances of reaching the final at Lord's on 30 June.

  15. Route to semi-final - Kentpublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

Kent certainly did it the hard way as they progressed to the knockout phase of the One-Day Cup, having lost their opening two matches.

Being bowled out for 188 by Sussex was not an auspicious beginning, and they did not come close to overhauling Middlesex's 313-9 at Radlett, despite 90 by Heino Kuhn.

But they prevailed in a very final-over finish against Glamorgan in their next game, after Joe Denly made an unbeaten 150 and it sparked a run of five successive victories.

They underperformed with the bat in their final group game against Essex, but third place saw them through to a quarter-final against Notts, which followed a very different path as they knocked off the 256 they needed with 14 overs to spare after a 194-run opening stand between Kuhn, who made 124 not out, and Daniel Bell-Drummond.

    Kent's 2018 One-Day Cup results:

    • Lost to Sussex by seven wickets
    • Lost to Middlesex by 70 runs
    • Beat Glamorgan by four wickets
    • Beat Hampshire by one run
    • Beat Somerset by 28 runs (DLS method)
    • Beat Surrey by 220 runs
    • Beat Gloucestershire by seven wickets
    • Lost to Essex by 153 runs
    • QF: beat Nottinghamshire by nine wickets
  16. Route to semi-final - Worcestershirepublished at 10:48 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

Worcestershire were out of the blocks fast in the group stage of the One-Day Cup, winning four of their first five games.

True, their high-scoring four-run win over Yorkshire could have gone either way in the final over, but their early form was so positive, that being bowled out for just 164 as they lost to Notts in their sixth game did not affect the team's self-belief.

It was back to normal service against Northants as hundreds by Joe Clarke and Callum Ferguson - his second in three innings - laid the foundation for victory,

And they secured top spot in the northern group and an automatic passage to the semi-finals by impressively chasing down 293 against Warwickshire to win with 26 balls to spare after England's Moeen Ali hit 114 off 75 balls.

    Worcestershire's 2018 One-Day Cup results:

    • Beat Derbyshire by 50 runs
    • Beat Yorkshire by four runs
    • Lost to Durham by nine runs (DLS method)
    • Beat Lancashire by three wickets (DLS method)
    • Beat Leicestershire by six wickets
    • Lost to Nottinghamshire by 38 runs
    • Beat Northamptonshire by 34 runs
    • Beat Warwickshire by one wicket

I think the word to describe today's forecast for the Worcester area is 'iffy'.

Let's hope, though, that if there are any showers, it won't spoil the occasion as Worcestershire and Kent battle it out to earn a trip to Lord's at the end of the month.

Just in case, the team batting second has to face a minimum of 10 overs for it to constitute a completed match.

  18. Teams and tosspublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 17 June 2018

    One-Day Cup semi-finals - play starts 11:00 BST

Worcestershire have won the toss and acting captain Callum Ferguson has chosen to bat first.

They make two changes, with Moeen Ali away on England duty and regular skipper Joe Leach out for the rest of the season because of injury.

George Rhodes will open the batting in his first One-Day Cup appearance of the summer, and 19-year-old pace bowler Patrick Brown also comes into the side.

Joe Denly captains Kent in the absence of Sam Billings, who is also in England's one-day squad, with Adam Rouse in the XI to keep wicket.

That apart, they keep the same team that beat Notts by nine wickets on Thursday.

Worcestershire: Clarke, Rhodes, Ferguson (capt), Mitchell, D'Oliveira, Cox (wkt), Whiteley, Barnard, Morris, Pennington, Brown.

Kent: Bell-Drummond, Kuhn, Denly (capt), Blake, Dickson, Stevens, Rouse (wkt), Haggett, Henry, Qayyum, Podmore.
