    Target 462

Where has this turn come from all of a sudden? Leach hasn't really ripped it in this marathon spell since lunch but in the last over he found big turn to dismiss Chandimal and now gets one to go big past Mathews' edge. Mathews gropes forward and just manages to keep his back foot inside the crease.

    A maiden.

  2. SL 157-5published at 56 overs

    Mathews 30, Dickwella 3

Jimmy Anderson has two slips now to Dickwella and is bowling very full. Dickwella wants to feel bat on ball. He pushes the ball through the covers for two.

The England fans are singing Living on a Prayer again after England grabbed that fifth wicket.

England need five wickets to win

It wasn't as good as Shane Warne's ball of the century but it was good. You could see from the England players' reaction how impressive it was. Jos Buttler came tearing in to jump on his mate who he has know since their school days.

Niroshan Dickwella, not top of the list for best players for a blockathon, is the new man.

That is on the fringes of being a 'Warne delivery.' It pitched outside leg stump and span right across.

That comes from putting so many revolutions on the ball. It was an absoolute peach. I wonder if Chandimal was hampered by his injury? He barely moved his feet.

Oh, Jack Leach. That's a beauty.

The left-armer pitches one outside leg stump from round the wicket and it turns and hits the top of off. Dinesh Chandimal doesn't get near it.

    England are halfway there.

If Ben Stokes is fit he is a guaranteed pick in my opinion. In any given game, Ben is capable of a match-winning innings, match-winning bowling stint or an incredible match-turning carch/run out. His passion too is obvious, as far as I am concerned, if Ben is fit, he always plays.

England need six wickets to win

Anderson is using his left hand to hide the ball in his run up. You can almost sense the excitement that this bit of reverse swing has given England's most successful bowler.

Sri Lanka don't look sure either. Twice in a row Angelo Mathews misses outside off stump.

    Fascinating stuff.

Sri Lanka clearly aren't going to just block. Mathews now clubs Leach down the ground for a one-bounce four.

The delivery that found the edge moved off the pitch more than anything but there was just a hint of reverse swing for Anderson in that over.

Ben Foakes sets himself very high standards - he'll be unhappy he didn't catch that.

  15. dropped catch

Chandimal dropped on 0published at 51.3 overs

    Down!

There's definite movement for Jimmy Anderson. He finds Dinesh Chandimal's inside edge but Ben Foakes can't cling on diving down the leg side to his left.

That was not easy but I've given Foakes the big build up. He got a hand there.

Is this ball swinging for James Anderson? Now then. This changes things.

Ben Stokes' work is done. Jimmy Anderson is returning looking to make up for that dropped catch.

Sri Lanka's captain Dinesh Chandimal is in now. He's only had one functioning leg in this match due to a groin injury.

It was a horrific piece of cricket. The only way England are going to get wickets is through batsman error and there's another one. What are they trying to do? That was a giveaway.

How do you explain that to the batsmen waiting to come in?

The key to that is that Moeen Ali stayed up in the circle after a big shot the ball before. England tempted Mendis into a big shot and it worked. But that was awful batting.
