Welcome to international cricket Mr Mark Adair - that was some entrance on the big stage.

The debutant and number eight walks in and blasts two sixes in a quickfire 32 to help bring Ireland bring towards a competitive total.

It's just what Ireland fans needed after watching the innings flounder following a good opening stand.

I think we will see all-rounder Adair in the green jersey a few more times at least if that's just a taster.

  2. Ire 170-7published at 37 overs

    Run rate 4.59

Edgy from Tim Murtagh, playing a loose cut at Liam Plunkett and just inside edging the ball past his stumps.

Murtagh shuffles to one side, showing Plunkett all three stumps, and spoons a single away to end the over.

    Here's Liam Plunkett.

  4. Ire 167-7published at 36 overs

"You alright, Rash?" says Joe Root, while doing a terrible job of not bursting out laughing.

That took Adil Rashid by surprise. Joe Root is trying to suppress a laugh at slip.

  6. dropped catch

Murtagh dropped on 4published at 35.3 overs

    Oh, ouch!

Tim Murtagh sends a full-blooded swish in Adil Rashid's direction and Rashid ends up taking a bit of a thwack as the ball come towards him. He got his hands up in time but he wasn't going to be able to cling on to that.

Ireland just have to try and bat as many overs as they can. England might look to bowl Archer through and finish this innings off.

  8. Ire 165-7published at 35 overs

    Dockrell 15, Murtagh 4

Full from Jofra Archer, and George Dockrell deals with it well, whirling his wrists and pushing the ball through mid-wicket for a couple.

Archer rips a beauty past Dockrell and the batsman does well not to get a touch on it, the ball fizzing between bat and pad. Dockrell tucks himself underneath a bouncer that's a bit too leg side to be really troublesome, and that'll be the over.

  10. Ire 162-7published at 34 overs

Good from Adil Rashid, beating Tim Murtagh's outside edge as he pushes awkwardly at a shorter delivery that turns away from the bat.

Adil Rashid, four overs still up his sleeve, is back into the attack.

Whether Jofra Archer plays in the World Cup or not, you can see he's a fine, rhythmical bowler. He makes it look so easy and it's not.

  13. Ire 158-7published at 33 overs

    Run rate 4.79

Jofra Archer goes for full first up to new man Tim Murtagh, and Murtagh, exposing his stumps, plonks the ball back towards the bowler.

Murtagh is very, very keen to not get his toes squished by one of those yorkers.

That is exactly why Jofra Archer has been brought into the squad. He's showing us he can get wickets in the middle overs too.

    That is a perfect yorker.

I suppose watching an off stump go flying back down the pitch isn't a bad way to get your first wicket in international cricket.

Bowled him! A brilliant yorker from Jofra Archer. That was 90.3mph! Searing pace.

    Adair b Archer 32 (Ire 157-7)

And Jofra Archer casually pulls out a 90mph yorker to demolish Mark Adair's off stump!

Lovely stuff. Archer goes full and straight, cranks up the pace a touch, and the ball sneaks past bat, pad and into the base of the stumps.

  18. Ire 157-6published at 32.1 overs

George Dockrell takes a quick single off Jofra Archer's latest delivery to get Mark Adair back on strike.

    And again!

This is some innings from a man on debut. Another huge heave of the back from Mark Adair sends Tom Curran's final ball into the crowd once again.
