Francis Edwards: Don’t understand England trying to pack their side with all-rounders. Their bowling is their weakness yet there are better bowlers out there. All the wickets in ODI cricket are flat and the balls don’t really swing - their top seven is the best on flat wickets!

Curran is one of the best in the world at that delivery, if not the best.

It's an immense skill to land that back of the hand slower ball with such accuracy by Curran.

Paul Stirling was the top-scorer for Ireland with 33 from 44 deliveries, before he was caught by Archer off Curran.

There were a few good cameos - 29 from Andy Balbirnie, 32 from Mark Adair - but no-one was able to go on and make that big score.

This is the 13th time since start of 2017 Liam Plunkett has taken three or more wickets in an ODI innings.

The only bowlers to have done so more often are India left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav and Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan.

  10. Postpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 3 May 2019

So Liam Plunkett finishes with 4-35 from his seven overs.

Tom Curran took 3-35 and there was one apiece for Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid and Joe Denly.

    Little b T Curran 9 (Ire 198)

    Stumps = flattened.

And that is your lot. Tom Curran unfurls a terrific slower ball and Josh Little can only help it onto his off stump.

England will need 199 to win.

I don't think I've seen a more relaxed ODI debut than Jofra Archer's. He's shown no nerves at all.

He's been bowling 90mph with ease on a very cold day.

  13. Ire 198-9published at 43 overs

Josh Little opens his shoulders and slashes a single through the off side.

This is a better end to the over from Willey, with Boyd Rankin only able to snaffle a single.

  14. Ire 197-9published at 42.3 overs

Josh Little plays my favourite shot of the day, trying to scoop David Willey up and over Ben Foakes' head, but he misses it by a mile and the ball just bounces over the stumps.

That's a healthy nick from Little, getting squared up as the ball kisses the inside edge of the bat, but Foakes can't stop that! Four!

  15. Postpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 3 May 2019

David Willey, who bowled five overs at the start of the game, is coming back on.

Ian, don't demean your bowling. You have the best strike rate - 14.6 - of any ODI bowler to have taken at least six wickets.

I've never kept in a match, just bowled some filthy medium-pace dobbers.

  18. Ire 192-9published at 42 overs

    Run rate 4.57

Tom Curran mixes his lines and lengths up, sliding an excellent slower ball past Josh Little's outstretched bat, but that's a heck of a shot from Little!

He leans back and digs out a full ball, slapping it down the ground and picking up a welcome four.

  19. Postpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 3 May 2019

Tom Curran is coming back with two overs still up his sleeve.

I always enjoy watching Boyd Rankin bat, having faced him plenty of times in the nets.
