Stealing a single! That's the quickest I've seen Gayle move in this World Cup so far. That tells a story - that he's desperate to get off the mark.
Root, promoted to open in absence of injured Roy, becomes first England batsman to score three WC hundreds
Morgan (back) & Roy (hamstring) both injured and don't bat in England's run chase
Windies bowled out for 212 in 44.4 overs - Pooran 63, Wood 3-18, Archer 3-30
Russell and Gayle were both dropped - England have now dropped as many catches as Pakistan in this WC (8)

Crikey. Chris Gayle taps just wide of mid-off and steals a quick single. Didn't know he had it in him! Home safe in plenty of time as well.

That bounce was so steep. With the moisture, the ball won't come on to the bat, at least not until the afternoon when it dries out.
Gayle leaves the last alone as it shapes past off.
Good start from England. Watchful stuff from the Windies openers.
A spicy 90mph short ball from Jofra Archer that Chris Gayle leans away from. Steep bounce there.

Chris Gayle does everything slowly, apart from hit sixes. His movements are exaggeratedly slow these days.
Archer pushes it full to Gayle, who leaves alone as it goes past off stump on the angle.
Jofra Archer goes in short at the ribs but Evin Lewis plays it well, tapping it down for a single for the first run off the bat.
Chris Gayle on strike next up.
A loosener from Jofra Archer down the leg side. Wide.

Former England captain on TMS
The last time I saw Jofra bowl was in a Sussex game against Essex about three, four years ago, and I was facing him. I'm looking forward to seeing what improvements he's made.
Boo. No Archer v Gayle yet.
Evin Lewis is on strike to start the second over on his return to the side.

I was here for India v South Africa and there was just a little bit of movement there. The groundsman says there's a little bit more moisture in the wicket, so there should be some movement for England. And you'd feel if there is movement, that should bring Chris Woakes into the game.
Yeesh. Chris Woakes beats Chris Gayle again with one that does nip a bit off the seam on the angle across the left-hander.
A fine maiden to start.

That's a good 'un...
Hello. Chris Woakes finds that full length and zips it past the outside edge of Chris Gayle's bat. That was close to the stumps too.
Woakes to Gayle.
Tucked off the pads to Archer at mid-on. No run.

Never put a choir boy off his singing, Stuart.

I tried to lead the singing for the national anthem but I was often standing next to Stuart Broad, who is tone deaf. He sang the same note constantly so he put me off.
Chris Woakes will take the first over so we'll have to wait until the second over for Jofra Archer v Chris Gayle.
