  1. Afg 18-0published at 6 overs

    Target 225

There's another near miss for Afghanistan - the third or fourth already in the first six overs.

Gulbadin gets in a right tangle, shaping to pull Bumrah but only flat-batting the ball tamely down the pitch. Bumrah dives but can't make the catch.

Gulbadin then decides the best cause of action is a big heave. I'm not sure about that. He misses.

  2. Afg 16-0published at 5 overs

Need 209 more runs to win

Two leg-byes to Afghanistan's total. They all count.

Kohli charges in from the 30-yard circle to appeal but that was never going to be out. He's pumped.

  3. Afg 13-0published at 4.3 overs

    Required run-rate 4.68

Afghanistan's openers look like they are batting with a toothpick at the moment. They are struggling to lay bat on ball but are surviving.

    Edged... safe!

Hazratullah is living dangerously. Virat Kohli leaps to his left but can't get to the catch. The ball beats the third man fielder. Four runs.

  8. Afg 7-0published at 3.2 overs

Hazratullah looks very edgy. He swishes again. He has faced 17 balls for his two runs. Bumrah is bowling quickly.

Imagine having tickets to India v Pakistan.

Then imagine your other half getting down on one knee during the game.

    Perfect day?

  10. Afg 6-0published at 3 overs

    Target 225

Virat Kohli protested with the umpire after that decision. I'm not sure why. It pitched outside leg stump, even if it was only by a matter of milimetres.

It would have knocked middle stump out of the ground had it not hit the pad.

Woweeee. It looks like 49.555555% of the ball pitched in line with leg stump but it's not enough.

The green light comes up. The majority of the ball pitched outside leg.

Shami didn't seem keen but as soon as Dhoni got involved Kohli was interested.

Oh this looks out on the first replay. Has it pitched in line? That is the only thing that can save Hazratullah.

    Ball tracking coming up.

Huge appeal for lbw. The umpire shakes his head but with a second remaining on the timer Kohli decides to review.

    Target 225

Mohammed Shami has not played in this tournament before today but he's right on the money. Twice in a row he beats the edge. The second delivery wobbles after the bat and nearly cleans up MS Dhoni. He ends up flat on his back behind the stumps.

    Hazratullah 2, Gulbadin 0

Gulbadin Naib will be eyeing a captain's knock. He gets in behind the final two deliveries to see out the over. It has been a solid enough start from Afghanistan.

If you bowl in good areas but the keeper misses one and it goes for four, maybe it shows luck is not on your side.
