A Jadhav pull around the corner bobbles towards fine leg, but he and Dhoni manage to whizz through for two.

But then Dhoni shows how a pull should be played, swiveling around and smacking the ball behind square leg for a much-needed four as India begin to show signs of aggression after a quiet spell.

Jadhav aims a big slog-sweep off Rashid Khan but edges it into his pads and close to the stumps, and India eke three runs from the latest over.

I think been impressed with how Afghanistan have been able to continually apply pressure.

Is that four the cue for Dhoni to really get going? The rest of the over is as you were, with a couple of singles and then Jadhav wafts away outside off stump off the last ball without edging it to the keeper.

Jadhav and Dhoni have three ODI partnerships under their belt in 2019 - those stands worth 121*, 53* & 141*.

At last! Dhoni rocks back onto the back foot to carve a four through the offside from a Gulbadin loosener.

Jadhav scoops the ball in the air towards Nabi at mid on, but it falls just a few inches short.

But then he shakes that worrying moment off to drop to his knee and slog-sweep a rare boundary over midwicket.

Captain Gulbadin Naib is bringing himself back on at the other end.

Impressively, some of the Afghanistan players are doing press ups during the drinks break - I just used to stand around.

This is a really interesting passage of play. There is not a lot of intent and to me that says Dhoni and Jadhav are backing themselves to score in the last five or six overs and that they are backing their bowlers against the Afghanistan batsmen.

Just one run off Mujeeb's latest over, and from the final ball there's an appeal for caught behind as Dhoni shapes to tickle a leg side one away.

Keeper Ikram Ali Khil goes up, but it's turned down and Afghanistan have no reviews left so Dhoni stays.

Jadhav smashes a cut past point, to show a bit of aggression that gets the India fans going, but only for a single as another over keeps India looking for acceleration.

Stuart Mitchell: Second shock in two days? Afghanistan have a chance if they can capitalise on Kohli's wicket. This would be a bigger upset than yesterday (though I struggle to call yesterday a shock/upset given the pitch and how badly England play on those types).
