  1. Ind 178-4published at 42 overs

    Dhoni 23, Jadhav 22

Mujeeb is back for his ninth over, and still both Dhoni and Jadhav are struggling to get the Afghanistan attack away - just the one run comes from it.

What sort of a target are India going to set here?

  2. Ind 177-4published at 41 overs

    Dhoni 23, Jadhav 22

Rashid Khan has bounced back from his mauling by Eoin Morgan at Old Trafford, and has sent down another excellent over to keep India in check.

There is no pressure being applied to the boundary fielders. There is little intent.

Jadhav is currently averaging more than 53 in ODI cricket during 2019 - the best rate he's recorded in a calendar year when he's logged more than three knocks.

  5. Ind 175-4published at 40 overs

    Dhoni 22, Jadhav 21

A Jadhav pull around the corner bobbles towards fine leg, but he and Dhoni manage to whizz through for two.

But then Dhoni shows how a pull should be played, swiveling around and smacking the ball behind square leg for a much-needed four as India begin to show signs of aggression after a quiet spell.

  6. Ind 166-4published at 39 overs

    Dhoni 16, Jadhav 18

Jadhav aims a big slog-sweep off Rashid Khan but edges it into his pads and close to the stumps, and India eke three runs from the latest over.

I think been impressed with how Afghanistan have been able to continually apply pressure.

  9. Ind 163-4published at 38 overs

    Dhoni 14, Jadhav 17

Is that four the cue for Dhoni to really get going? The rest of the over is as you were, with a couple of singles and then Jadhav wafts away outside off stump off the last ball without edging it to the keeper.

  10. How's stat?!published at 13:01 British Summer Time 22 June 2019

Jadhav and Dhoni have three ODI partnerships under their belt in 2019 - those stands worth 121*, 53* & 141*.

  11. Ind 160-4published at 37.1 overs

    Dhoni 12, Jadhav 16

At last! Dhoni rocks back onto the back foot to carve a four through the offside from a Gulbadin loosener.

  12. Ind 156-4published at 37 overs

    Dhoni 8, Jadhav 16

Jadhav scoops the ball in the air towards Nabi at mid on, but it falls just a few inches short.

But then he shakes that worrying moment off to drop to his knee and slog-sweep a rare boundary over midwicket.

Captain Gulbadin Naib is bringing himself back on at the other end.

Impressively, some of the Afghanistan players are doing press ups during the drinks break - I just used to stand around.

Rashid Khan will be back when we resume.

This is a really interesting passage of play. There is not a lot of intent and to me that says Dhoni and Jadhav are backing themselves to score in the last five or six overs and that they are backing their bowlers against the Afghanistan batsmen.

  16. Ind 152-4published at 36 overs

    Dhoni 8, Jadhav 12

Just one run off Mujeeb's latest over, and from the final ball there's an appeal for caught behind as Dhoni shapes to tickle a leg side one away.

Keeper Ikram Ali Khil goes up, but it's turned down and Afghanistan have no reviews left so Dhoni stays.

  17. Ind 151-4published at 35 overs

    Dhoni 8, Jadhav 11

Jadhav smashes a cut past point, to show a bit of aggression that gets the India fans going, but only for a single as another over keeps India looking for acceleration.

Stuart Mitchell: Second shock in two days? Afghanistan have a chance if they can capitalise on Kohli's wicket. This would be a bigger upset than yesterday (though I struggle to call yesterday a shock/upset given the pitch and how badly England play on those types).

  20. Ind 146-4published at 34 overs

    Dhoni 6, Jadhav 8

We're in nurdle mode here, and while there is still plenty of time for fireworks, with four wickets down and a long-ish tail, India are biding their time.
