David Willey misses out on a half-century as an excellent delivery by Craig Miles leaves him off the pitch and clips the off bail. Willey put on 60 with Steven Patterson, a vital stand in the context of Yorkshire's overall innings so far.

The new batsman is James Logan, brought into the Yorkshire side following the return of Dom Bess to Somerset following his loan spell.

Azad was part of the previous record stand when he and Ateeq Javid put on 309 against the Loughborough students at the start of the season.

    Derbyshire 93-8 v Lancashire

Jimmy Anderson bowls Alex Hughes for 32 and then traps Logan van Beek lbw three balls later to complete his umpteenth five-for in first-class cricket.

Only Hughes and Matt Critchley (30) have managed double figures for Derbyshire.

Yorkshire earn batting pointpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Yorkshire 200-7 v Warwickshire

Yorkshire skipper Steven Patterson smears opposite number Jeetan Patel away over mid-wicket for the first six of the game to bring up a 50 partnership with David Willey at Clifton Park.

That is Patel's lot for the time being, but Patterson collects a single off replacement Oliver Hannon-Dalby to earn his side their first batting point.

He is 33 not out and David Willey has 42.

  6. Willey digs in for Tykespublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Yorkshire 174-7 v Warwickshire

Responsible batting so far by David Willey and Steven Patterson, who are trying to repair some of the damage done by Warwickshire's bowlers during the afternoon session in York.

The normally cavalier Willey has hit seven fours in his 40 not out, the latest cut away square off Jeetan Patel, and Patterson has 17.

  7. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

Glamorgan made the worst possible start in reply to Middlesex's 410 all out with Nick Selman run out without facing a ball. He was called through for a single by Charlie Hemphrey, but beaten by Nick Gubbins' direct hit and the Welsh county are now 5-1.

Still no sign of a Gloucestershire wicket at Grace Road, where Leicestershire are 274-1 in the 81st over. Neil Dexter is 158 not out and Hassan Azad is on 103.

Jimmy Anderson has struck another blow for Lancashire following the post-tea resumption at Derby by having Matt Critchley caught behind for 30. Alex Hughes is still there on 32, with Derbyshire 86-6.

What a moment for Leicestershire opener Hassan Azad, who reaches a maiden Championship century from 220 balls with two runs off Graeme van Buuren.

The 25-year-old made his first-class debut for Hampshire back in 2015, but it is only since arriving at Grace Road that his career has really kicked on.

After scoring 139 against Loughborough MCCU in March, he was given a chance in the Championship side and made half-centuries in his first two appearances.

    Kent 255-9 v Notts

Today's star batsman has finally been beaten, fittingly, by the day's star bowler.

Zak Crawley's highly impressive knock is brought to an end by James Pattinson, who picks up his sixth wicket.

The Kent opener departs for 111 off 173 balls - a vitally important performance for his side.

    Leicestershire 264-1 v Gloucestsrshire

  11. Middlesex innings comes to an endpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Middlesex 410 v Glamorgan

Steven Finn hits three successve fours off Marnus Labuschagne's leg-spin before Tim Murtagh is bowled by Marchant de Lange (3-94) in the next over to bring Middlesex's first innings to an end.

It's an excellent score for the home side, built on centuries by Paul Stirling (138) and Sam Robson (107), on a pitch which did offer some help to the Glamorgan attack.

The Welsh county now need to bat well themselves with over 30 overs left in the second day's play.

WICKET Ballance lbw Patel 54published at 16:30 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Yorkshire 145-7 v Warwickshire

Absolutely no doubt about that one.

Gary Ballance, as is his wont, goes back onto his stumps and is struck on the back leg by spinner Jeetan Patel's arm ball.

The umpire very quickly sends the left-hander on his way and his dismissal secures a second bowling point for Warwickshire.

  13. Kidderminster happy to welcome Pearspublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Worcestershire v Sussex (starts Tuesday)

Kidderminster will come to Worcestershire's rescue again tomorrow when Chester Road stages the Championship Division Two game with Sussex, as the county ground at New Road is under water.

Although this is the 159th flood since Worcestershire first played first-class cricket at New Road in 1899, this is only the 13th time it has happened actually during the season - and six of them have been since 2007.

In 2007, the county recovered well from the second worst flood in their history and the ground was considered ready to play 23 days later, only for the rain and dirty water to then return, to wash out the rest of the season.

Although the Pears fulfilled their fixtures 12 years ago, at outposts such as Edgbaston, nearby Himley, Derby and even Taunton, it was Kidderminster which staged the majority - two Championship games, two T20s and a One-Day Cup contest.

They also staged a Championship game a year later and have since had three 40-over matches, the last of them in 2012.

"We have an arrangement with Worcestershire by which we keep a pitch semi ready all the way though the season just in case this sort of thing happens," Kidderminster chairman Peter Radburn told BBC Hereford & Worcester.

"We're very lucky that the ground is where is where it is. It has a lot of sand in its structure and drains very quickly. We have 10 or 11 days of second team cricket here every summer. We get on pretty well with Worcester and we help each other we can."

The main consideration now is how long it will take for the flood waters to recede? Worcestershire do not have another home Championship fixture scheduled until Derbyshire are due at New Road on 7 July. But, before that, there is a one-day tour game against Australia A on 25 June. And that now looks very much in doubt.

  14. Division Two updatepublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

With all the comings and goings at Chelmsford, we haven't brought you up to date with events at Derby recently.

After a delayed start, Lancashire have made an excellent start, reducting the home side to 82-5.

The last two wickets, or Luis Reece and Harvey Hosein, were both taken by England's Jimmy Anderson, who has 2-13 from nine overs.

Alex Hughes and Matt Critchley have put on 58 so far and are currently on 32 and 26 not out respectively.

  15. Tea at Radlettpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Middlesex 394-8 v Glamorgan

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

Middlesex continued to dominate in the afternoon on the second day as Paul Stirling followed Sam Robson in registering his first Championship century of the season.

Batting has eased a little on a sunny day but the visitors managed to collect four wickets in the session and there is still enough for the bowlers on a good length to trouble the batsmen.

Stirling, who is renowned as positive and aggressive, played a patient innings of 138 to keep Glamorgan at bay.

There are still 40 overs left of the day and the hosts will hope, after a further dash after the interval, that they can apply plenty of pressure with the ball on the reply.

  16. Pattinson give Notts timely boostpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 17 June 2019

    Kent 236-8 v Notts - Tea

Zak Crawley's latest partner Harry Podmore survives until tea, making five from fifteen balls, including one boundary.

It had been Kent's session for long periods with Crawley and Grant Stewart sharing a 100-run partnership, but James Pattinson's double strike with tea on the horizon will have given the visitors a real boost after a hard afternoon's toil.

Pattinson claimed all three wickets to fall this afternoon; also removing Mulder for 13.

Kent will see the afternoon as a positive on the whole after a miserable morning and will look to push over 250 when they return after tea.

Essex beat Hampshire by an innings and eight runs

Simon Harmer played five Tests for South Africa in 2015, taking 20 wickets.

But their loss has very much been Essex's gain, since he opted to sign a Kolpak deal with the county in 2017 - and took 72 wickets that summer to help them win the title.

His match figures of 12-61 in the two-day win over Hampshire continued an incredible run of form at Chelmsford by the 30-year-old off-spinner.

In their last three home Championship games, he has taken 2-20, 6-60, 3-72, 8-98, 5-23 and 7-38 - that's 31 victims in total, and he has 42 for the season so far, with eight matches remaining.

Five wickets for James Pattinson who has bowled superbly today.

After long periods of fruitless graft this afternoon, two wickets have fallen in quick succession.

Ollie Rayner didn't last long, being pinned lbw by the Australian on the first ball he faced.
