  2. Postpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

We had less than one full session of play in the title decider between Somerset and Essex today.

In the few overs which were possible, Somerset were reduced to 75-4 - and here is the story of the truncated opening day in six pieces of video.

  3. Glamorgan press for seventh wicketpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Durham 164-6 v Glamorgan

Ben Raine edges Timm van der Gugten but the ball lands just short of Nick Selman at slip.

Ben Raine almost falls over as he clips to leg. An eventful dot ball.

He picks up two on the leg side with the fifth ball and blocks the sixth.

This is the only game still active now bad light has interrupted play between Kent and Hampshire at Canterbury.

    Kent 147 v Hampshire 80-3

Bad light stops play at CanterburyImage source, Rex Features

There are still 29 overs to go at Canterbury, but the umpires decide the light isn't good enough for play to continue for the time being.

Sam Northeast is 11 not out and James Vince has seven, and Hampshire look well-placed to establish some sort of first-innings lead despite the best effort of Darren Stevens, who has 2-27 so far.

  7. Red Rose on top at Grace Roadpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Leicestershire 155 v Lancashire 2-1 - close

Division Two champions Lancashire are very much on top at Grace Road despite the loss of England opener Keaton Jennings for a first-ball duck.

Leicestershire are now certain to finish bottom of the table after failing to earn any batting points, with fast bowler Richard Gleeson producing figures of 6-43.

England new boy Matt Parkinson weighed in with 2-31 - including his brother Callum, who was lbw for 29 -and the fact that only four Leicestershire batsmen reached double figures highlighted one of the problems that has afflicted them this season.

WICKET Eckersley lbw b Hogan 7published at 16:56 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Durham 161-6 v Glamorgan

Glamorgan have their second bonus point.

Michael Hogan bowls back of a length and gets the ball to cut back off the seam sharply.

Ned Eckersley is pinned in front of the stumps.

Ben Raine is the new batsman.

  9. Close of play at Lord'spublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Middx 176-3 v Derbys

Sam Robson may have missed out on his third century of the season but Middlesex still have the advantage going in to day two of this contest.

Dawid Malan survives to stumps unbeaten on 51 - just 16 short of 1000 for the season.

    Martin Andersson is on four.

  10. Play abandoned in title deciderpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Somerset 75-4 v Essex - close

The patience of umpires Rob Bailey and Alex Wharf has finally run out at Taunton and play has been called off for the day.

Essex had the upper hand in the not-quite-one-session of play that was possible, collecting four Somerset wickets - and remember, the home side MUST win this game to pip Essex to the title.

All to do on day two then for Somerset, with skipper Tom Abell 24 not out and George Bartlett on five.

Meanwhile, here's a pic from Taunton that we must share with you. Has the pot of gold got Essex's name on it, or Somerset's?

  11. Runs flow at Riversidepublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Durham 157-5 v Glamorgan

Hogan over-pitches and Eckersley drives through mid-off and into the Castle Stand for four.

A play and a miss off the next ball, deviating away from the batsman.

  12. Close of play at the Ovalpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Surrey 246-2 v Notts

The weather hasn't been kind to cricket fans this afternoon and we have yet another early finish to day one in the final round of the Championship...

The picture below says it all.

A great day for Scott Borthwick nonetheless. He scored his second century of the season and resumes (weather permitting) at 1030 BST tomorrow on 109 not out.

Ollie Pope marks his recall to the England squad with an unbeaten 78.

  13. Durham five down but Watling remainspublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Durham 150-5 v Glamorgan

Watling plays and misses Michael Hogan outside off and for reasons known only to himself the batsman drops down to his knees.

A much fuller ball is driven through mid off for four.

Two more to Watling with a nudge through backward point and that's the Durham 150 in the 55th over.

    Watling is 69 not out.

    Kent 147 v Hampshire 67-3

    Darren StevensImage source, Rex Features

Wonder how those contract talks between Kent and Darren Stevens are going?

The final delivery of his latest over is plumbline straight and keeps pretty low, a fatal combination for Tom Alsop who plays down the wrong line.

Hampshire skipper James Vince comes out to join Kent old boy Sam Northeast at the crease.

  15. Durham five down at Riversidepublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Durham 144-5 v Glamorgan

David Lloyd is asking a few questions with some away-swingers.

Watling is forward and defending down the pitch.

Watling turns the fifth ball away into the off side for one and Eckersley leaves outside off.

  16. Kohler-Cadmore dominates Bearspublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Yorkshire 261-2 v Warwickshire - close

Two sessions is all she wrote today at Edgbaston, but it's still been a memorable one for Yorkshire opener Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

He will start day two on 165 not out, having hit a six and 26 fours so far in his 175-ball innings.

Debutant Tom Loten put on 184 with Kohler-Cadmore before he was adjudged caught at slip for 58 from the final delivery before tea - which also proved to be the final delivery of the day's play as rain set in.

    Durham 143-5 v Glamorgan

Solomon Bell is very tentativley forward, playing around a straight ball from Michael Hogan and the off stump has been uprooted.

A baptism of fire for the young debutante.

The new batsman is Ned Eckersley.

Glamorgan need one more for their second bowling point.

  19. Bell at the crease on debut for Durhampublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 23 September 2019

    Durham 143-4 v Glamorgan

Solomon Bell tries to get off the mark with a straight drive but a sliding stop keeps the Durham newbie on nought.

BJ Watling picks up a single off Lloyd at the other end and Solomon Bell has his first run at this level with a clip to fine leg.

    Kent 147 v Hampshire 56-2

    Darren StevensImage source, Rex Features

We are back in business after tea at Canterbury where Felix Organ picks up three off Matt Milnes.

It is his last scoring stroke as he attempts a strange-looking flip shot off Darren Stevens at the start of the next over and is palpably leg-before.
