  1. WI 173-3published at 14:11 British Summer Time 10 July 2020

    Chase 15, Brooks 39

Bess continues. This West Indies pair are pretty content in waiting for the looser balls and picking up singles. Finding those gaps with relative ease.

    Two from the over.

If West Indies bat the full day today they could have a lead of 200. It will then be very difficult for England to get beyond that and set a target.

  3. WI 171-3published at 54 overs

Jimmy opting for the short stuff as a couple of bouncers easily sail past the head of Shamarh Brooks.

As the scoreboard pops up on my screen, I'm reminded just how much in control the tourists are. Trail by 33. Seven wickets in hand. Batting conditions. This could be a long afternoon session for England.

Some news for you from Sussex, where England fast bowler Chris Jordan has had surgery on a bicep injury, which will keep him out for six to 10 weeks. More on that here.

  5. WI 171-3published at 14:05 British Summer Time 10 July 2020

    Chase 14, Brooks 38

You get the feeling that if anyone is going to get a wicket here, it will be Dom Bess. The England spinner races through another over but almost has Chase playing on, the bottom edge deflecting onto the pads.

    Another Bess maiden.

Jofra Archer is down on the ground and having a right good stretch. He's bending his body in all sorts of shapes.

WI have been much better in all departments. England seem as flat as the pitch now. Without a crowd to support them it's hard to see where the next wicket is coming from. Can easily see an innings win.

That was beautifully played. I am not sure Jimmy will be pleased with that.

  8. WI 171-3published at 14:02 British Summer Time 10 July 2020

A lot has been made of the inexperience in England's top order. Mind you, these are completely different conditions to bat in compared to the first two days.

Anderson is wayward with his line and Brooks chips it over mid-wicket for four. A solid shot, that.

The Grumpy Lawyer: The problem isn’t that England batted first. The problem is that its batting line-up is decidedly dodgy.

Roston does not like batting against off-spin at all.

  11. WI 167-3published at 51 overs

    Chase 14, Brrooks 34

Dom Bess and Ben Stokes, at slip, both have their hands on their head as the England spinner nearly finds Chase's outside edge.

Good flight, a bit of turn, maiden over.

West Indies trail England's first innings score by 37.

The game is set up so beautifully with these two very mature batsman, certainly at first-class level.

The beauty of the position West Indies are in is Jermaine Blackwood will have freedom rather than coming in at 50-4.

Ashley, you're not the first to ask that over the past few days. I'm sure you won't be the last.

James Anderson is getting a fair bit of bounce off the turf and it takes Brooks by surprise as he plays it in front of his grill.

But the batsman answers back with a cracking back-foot punch through point. Four runs.

Ashley Parker: Why did we bat first? Total baffling decision if you ask me.

  15. WI 161-3published at 13:52 British Summer Time 10 July 2020

England turn to spin with Dom Bess and he causes Roston Chase a little bit of trouble, tossing it up and finding the outside edge, the ball trickling into the leg side.

A single each for Chase and Brooks

There are some dodgy-looking barnets in the England team but Bess' hair is looking sharp. A decent skin fade.

Anderson is donning that black headband. With bowlers allowed to use sweat, but no saliva, to shine the ball ... does a headband create more or less sweat?

England's record wicket-taker pitches it up to Brooks, a hint of swing.

The one thing I would say is the umpires are as rusty as the players.

You are not suggesting this, Carlos, but the reason neutral umpires were brought in was to rule out any suggestion of bias.

Let's talk about the reviews. It's frustrating. Yesterday we talked about the efficiency of Holder's reviews. Those yesterday looked stonewall-dead.

The one for Brathwaite today? Not a chance.

Why every time West Indies bowl do they have to use the review?

I am not accusing the umpires of bias. It is just happening year after a year.

The players are back out. Captain Ben Stokes orchestrates his field. It will be James Anderson to bowl first after lunch, Shamarh Brooks on strike.
