On replay that's not great awareness from Joe Root at all.

Not really backing up and it actually appears that Rory Burns makes the call, despite the ball having gone behind square.

Should be Root's decision and it was never really on - even then Root might've made it with better backing up.

Aside from Ben Stokes, of course.

Another huge moment for England's talisman.

If they can take another wicket before lunch, West Indies should be looking to run through this middle order now. They're good players but they don't have much form or practice behind them.

The ball trimmed the bail on its way through to Shane Dowrich, and that's what has done for Joe Root. Well done to Roston Chase.

Root run out (Chase) 17 (Eng 47-2)

Very far from ideal for England and fine fielding by Roston Chase.

Rory Burns slides it towards short third man, Joe Root goes for the single but Chase is quickly on it and gets his throw away off in one fluid motion.

The ball flicks the bail out of its groove just before Shane Dowrich catches it and that leaves Root short of his ground.

Terrible dismissal for the hosts and a major breakthrough for West Indies.

    It's a direct hit! He's struggling!

I think Joe Root will be trudging off here.

I thought he was in from here, but Root thinks he's struggling.

    Sharp single.

    Direct hit.

West Indies like it - is Joe Root a goner?

Surely the most unusual accessory worn on the field is a team-mate who always batted with a picture of Graham Gooch in his box. He knows who he is....

    Burns 25, Root 17

Joe Root calls Rory Burns through for a sharp single and Burns is alert, making his ground as the throw comes in.

And England will get an overthrow for it thanks to a misfield from the man backing up.

That's a great save from Roach. He saved four runs there.

  13. Eng 45-1published at 20.2 overs

Rory Burns marmalises a drive down the ground that looks a certain four but Kemar Roach puts in a superb dive to block it and keep it to a single.

And here is Shannon Gabriel back into the attack, having pulled up twice during an over earlier on and requiring treatment off the field.

    How will he go?

Turn on day one for Rahkeem Cornwall.

  17. Eng 42-1published at 20 overs

It may be far from cricket's greatest accessory, but certainly one of the most common in this Test is the Alice band.

Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes all sporting one.

Rory Burns gets a ball on his pads and doesn't miss out - whipping through mid-wicket for three runs.

It's bad game awareness from Rory Burns. If you can see off this Jason Holder spell it will get so much easier. You've got to put in the hard yards and play with discipline.

  19. Eng 38-1published at 19 overs

    Burns 19, Root 14

Settle down, Rory Burns. A late decision to cut brings a play and miss.

And then he drives down the wrong line to play and miss again.
