  1. Not outpublished at 3.5 overs

Joe Root did get a big enough stride in.

The ball hit him outside the line of off stump and, as he was playing a shot, that is not out.

West Indies lose a review as it was not umpire's call on impact either.

I tell you what, that is close! This could be a big moment in the Test match.

    Clearly no bat.

    All on the impact.

West Indies like that. Impact will be an issue for me.

Oooh. Shannon Gabriel gets one through onto Joe Root's pads.

Huge appeal - not given. Did he get outside the line?

Jason Holder deliberates and sends it upstairs.

Full credit to Jason Holder. It's easy to think as a captain that it went wrong bowling first last week so we should change but he's gone with his gut knowing that he'll be criticised hugely if it goes wrong.

  8. Eng 6-1published at 3 overs

Rory Burns sees off the rest of the over.

  9. Eng 6-1published at 2.3 overs

Roach goes full again but Root gets off the mark in fine style, whipping it off his toes through mid-wicket for three runs.

Joe Root can get trapped on the crease early on. He tends to have a forward press rather than fulling getting to the ball. When he gets his feet moving he looks a million dollars.

  11. Eng 3-1published at 2.1 overs

Here is Joe Root, facing Kemar Roach for his first ball.

Roach goes for the yorker and Root blocks it out.

Paul Furbey: Root asked for a platform from the openers and got more of a rotten piece of wood balanced on a crumbling brick.

  14. Eng 3-1published at 2 overs

Shannon Gabriel opens up from the other end to Rory Burns and has the England opener awkwardly working the ball round the corner.

In the air but no fielder there.

Shamarh Brooks then stops a fizzing leg glance off Burns with his shin pads.

Width last up and Burns gets a toe end on it to cut through cover for two runs.

I reckon the Windies were more lively in that first over than they were in the entirety of the second Test.

Kemar Roach used the crease well there, jumping wide before angling the ball back in.

Great breakthrough, especially after what you'd seen him do in the last Test. That will give the West Indies a huge boost.

It was a strange shot actually because he played outside the delivery. That's normally such a strong area for him.

It might have just straightened up on him a little bit. It looked out for me, the only question was possibly height. What a start for the West Indies.

Sibley lbw Roach 0 (Eng 1-1)

Stone dead. You don't review that.

After hanging a few outside off, Kemar Roach gets Dom Sibley to play two balls in a row.

And the second ducks in, zipping past Sibley's defence and thwacks into the front pad.

Sibley wisely opts against sending it upstairs - that was hitting three quarters of the way up middle stump. Huge breakthrough for the Windies - Joe Root is already in.

  20. Eng 1-0published at 0.5 overs

Eek. A bit of a mix-up between Sibley and Burns as Sibley taps and runs before seeing John Campbell scampering round from mid-wicket to make a diving stop.

Sibley says no and turns quickly but Burns is slightly stranded in the middle of the pitch.

Campbell can't get the throw off quickly though and Burns scampers home.
