Umpire Gough is playing with his light meter again.
The groundstaff are on the move and the light meter is out...

There's a lot of cricket left, another hour and 15 minutes but I don't think we'll get that.
Solid defence from Babar Azam. The wait for 600 goes on.
An outside edge greets James Anderson's first delivery to Babar Ali, but it trickles along the turf harmlessly.
One ball left.
That's a bit too straight and whipped off the pads for a single by Azhar Ali.
Which, yeah, it's a single, but it does bring Babar on strike to Anderson...
Jimmy is honing in on those pads and Azhar Ali, a touch shakily, keeps him out, coming forward and pushing the ball away.

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
If that ball is reversing, it dips late and could thud into the pad.
Full, straight, blocked by Azhar Ali.

Stephen Mayo: I was lucky enough to be at Lord's in 2003 to see Jimmy play his debut Test & get his first wicket. I'll take sitting on my sofa for his 600th...
Dan: Jimmy finally has 599 about 24 hours after he should have... now I fully expect the rain to arrive and curtail 600 and strand him for the year.
PUT THE LIGHT METER AWAY, MICHAEL GOUGH!
(He has done.)
Cheers, Kal.
Right, no mucking about. Here's Jimmy on 599...
A single to Azhar Ali brings Babar Azam on strike. Pakistan's best batsman tries to pull Archer but doesn't get his timing right, the ball dribbles along the pitch and back to the bowler.
Stuart Broad has rushed back on the field, he'll want to be the first one to congratulate Jimmy if and when he achieves the feat.
Will it happen tonight? Will bad light have the final say? Here's Amy Lofthouse to see you through the rest of tonight's session.

The light is not good, but rather than continue with the off-spinner, Root has brought Jofra Archer on.
Babar Azam is the new man in. And he sees out Anderson's last delivery. Every ball from Jimmy now has something riding on it.
He'll be the first seamer to ever take 600 Test wickets. Amazing.
There's a bit of reverse happening, which will give England's bowlers heart.

Jimmy Anderson has now taken 599 Test wickets! That was really tight.
Abid lbw b Anderson 46 (Pak 88-2)
Umpire's call! It was just clipping the leg stump but Jimmy doesn't care. England don't care. Abid Ali's Test summer is over and James Anderson is just one wicket away from 600 Test wickets.
Pak 88-2
WICKET 599? Abid Ali trapped on the pads. It's been given out. Maybe going down leg...
