  1. Postpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Warks 121 & 57-3 v Somerset 413-9

Big, loud appeal from Craig Overton there for lbw as his delivery causes Michael Burgess all sorts of problems.

That one was close but the umpire must have felt he got a touch.

Another Overton ball a couple of deliveries later almost gets through as well but Burgess dabs it down. Somerset building pressure.

  2. Godleman must waitpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 400-6 dec v Derbyshire 112-2 - tea

Will Derbyshire skiper Billy Godleman complete a half-century before tea at Headingley? The answer to that particular question is no.

He heads for the sandwich room on 48 not out but has done a good job so far for his side, whose first priority is to make sure they don't have to follow-on.

Leus du Plooy has 23, having come to the middle when two wickets went down with the score on 58.

  3. Trego takes new ballpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 472 v Lancashire 5-0

    Peter TregoImage source, Rex Features

Its a quick turnaround at Trent Bridge and 39-year-old Peter Trego is handed the new ball for Nottinghamshire.

It's a tidy over, costing him only a single, but Keaton Jennings puts away a wide full toss from Zak Chappell in the next as Lancashire begin their reply to the big Notts total.

  4. Honours even at Canterburypublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Kent 57-2 v Middlesex 269

It's difficult to tell who, if anybody, has the advantage in this South Group tussle as the players enjoy tea.

Joe Denly has constructed a nice 25 after Kent lost both openers while two-wicket Miguel Cummins has looked lively with the ball for Middlesex.

With just a day and a session remaining, a draw looks ever more likely.

  5. Essex pair dig inpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Sussex 194 v Essex 119-6 - tea

After a well-timed on drive for four by Simon Harmer off Stuart Meaker, Essex add just seven runs in the final five overs up to the tea interval.

Harmer has 15 and Paul Walter is 33 not out. Barring a dramatic collapse by one side or the other, it's hard to see how a draw can be avoided in this one tomorrow.

  6. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Warks 121 & 54-3 v Somerset 413-9

Well, a lot of work for Warwickshire to do if they are to prevent this being the final session of the match and force this into a fourth day.

That task falls at first to captain Will Rhodes and Michael Burgess, unbeaten on 19 and 12 respectively, but with the Bears an almost unreachable 238 behind, Somerset need just seven wickets to wrap up the win.

And if injured batsman Matt Lamb is unable to play, they will only need six...

  7. Postpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 400-6 dec v Derbyshire 108-2

Two fours in one over by Billy Godleman brings up a 50 partnership with Leus du Plooy for Derbyshire.

The first is a reasonably orthodox cover drive off Jordan Thompson, the second a sort of low wristy cut, which sees the ball run away through backward point.

Godleman is 47 not out and du Plooy has 20

Right before the tea break, Worcestershire lose opener Daryl Mitchell at Wantage Road.

Amazing how many wickets fall in the over before lunch or tea.

A superb straight delivery right on the money from Jack White catches Mitchell in no man's land and he has no complaints. Big wicket for Northants as the Pears pair looked set.

  9. Lamb chop for Bearspublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Warks 121 & 54-3 v Somerset 413-9

There are dark clouds hovering in Birmingham - and not just in the skies but over Warwickshire's batting line-up.

It appears a toe injury suffered by Matt Lamb could leave Warwickshire a batsman short - and they are already three down. At best, he will be immobilised if he does bat late on.

Everything is going Somerset's way right now.

  10. Mullaney exit ends Notts inningspublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 472 v Lancashire - tea

Nottinghamshire are finally all out from the penultimate ball of their innings and that is tea at Trent Bridge where, remember, Lancashire are the 'home' side for this game.

'Away' skipper Steven Mullaney is the last to go, caught on the boundary for 67 by sub fielder Rob Jones as he tried to clear the rope off Liam Livingstone.

Livingston and Tom Bailey took three wickets for Lancashire. It's been a lot of hard work for them, although they did have a rest on Sunday when no play was possible.

  11. Back on at Glamorganpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Glos 89-4 v Glamorgan

That rain delay didn't last long at Sophia Gardens and the teams are back out.

I'm not sure whether that means they didn't take an early tea - I imagine not: 10 minutes isn't really enough time to digest, is it?

And Gloucestershire have quickly suffered something else unpalatable as George Hankins is caught at slip off Graham Wagg. A wicket in the first over back, hard to stomach for the visitors indeed.

  12. Postpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Worcs 219 & 77-1 v Northants 212

Worcestershire are building a tidy partnership at Wantage Road as the second-wicket stand between Daryl Mitchell (39no) and Tom Fell (30no) passes 65.

The Pears are going to need to win this one to keep pace with Central Group leaders Somerset.

    Weatherley lbw Virdi 36 (Surrey 194 v Hampshire 68-2) - tea

    Amar VirdiImage source, Rex

Amar Virdi makes the second breakthrough for Surrey as one that may have kept a little low traps Joe Weatherley in front - and that is tea at Arundel.

After losing Felix Organ in the nnth over, Weatherley and Tom Alsop stabilised the Hampshire innings with a stand of exactly 50 - but Surrey will have a new batsman at one end for the start of the final session.

    Alsop is eight not out.

  14. Postpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 455-9 v Lancashire

Will Notts even make it to 120 overs?

Matt Carter (22) lofts a catch to Tom Hartley on the deep mid-wicket boundary, off Liam Hurt, and Zak chappell attempts anambitious reverse sweep and is taken at backward point.

    Bell c Davies b Gregory 6 (Warks 121 & 39-3) v Somerset 413-9

Surely a matter of when, not if, Somerset win this now? That's a big wicket with Ian Bell falling.

In among the Overton brothers' love-in, Lewis Gregory pipes up 'don't forget about me!'

A gorgeous teasing delivery tempts Bell into a stroke for fear of what would happen if he didn't hit it - but he can only divert it to the happy hands of centurian wicketkeeper Steve Davies.

  16. Early tea at Cardiffpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Glos 89-3 v Glamorgan 116

Prompted by a sudden shower, the players have left the field for an early tea at Sophia Gardens.

Gloucestershire will hope the delay is not too long as they arrow in on Glamorgan's disappointing first-innings score.

Tom Lace is unbeaten on 37 in his first game for Glos.

  17. Postpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Surrey 172 v Hampshire 60-1

Surrey have turned to Amar Virdi's spin at Arundel after a brief spell from each of their four seamers.

Morne Morkel was right on the spot as you'd expect, conceding just eight from his initial four-over burst - but it was Gus Atkinson who has taken the only wicket to fall so far.

Joe Weatherley is continuing his good form with 29 not out, and Tom Alsop is on seven. Virdi's opening over yields only a single.

A second wicket for Miguel Cummins at Canterbury - do Middlesex have the edge in this one?

Marcus O'Riordan flashes at a slightly wide one - but straight to Martin Andersson at fourth slip.

for Steven Mullaneypublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 444-7 v Lancashire

    Steven MullaneyImage source, Rex Features

Steven Mullaney tucks it away round the corner for one and reaches a 56-ball half-century. With a maximum of 120 in the first innings of a Bob Willis Trophy game, Notts have just five left to face.

  20. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 400-6 dec v Derbyshire 80-2

Slow going for Derbyshire at Headingley, with just 22 runs scored from 10 overs since the dismissal of Wayne Madsen.

Skipper Billy Godleman has 30 and Leus du Plooy is 11 not out. From their perspective, the goal is to use up time left in the game while avoiding the follow-on.
