    Surrey 156-8 v Hampshire

We have play at Arundel and Surrey's Morne Morkel appears to be in a hurry - perhaps he fancies a bowl on here.

His third boundary, this one clipped away off Ian Holland, takes the total past 150 and the big South African is 23 not out.

Hampshire will want to clean up these last two wickets in a hurry.

  3. Batting remains tough at Cardiffpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Glamorgan 116 v Gloucestershire 14-1 - Lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Sport Wales

The bowlers’ domination has continued under overcast skies in Cardiff as Gloucestershire seamer David Payne wrapped up the Glamorgan innings inside an hour.

He took four of the last five wickets to fall as only Dan Douthwaite’s unbeaten 30 provided any resistance.

But the visitors soon lost captain Chris Dent, given caught behind off Timm van der Gugten without scoring.

Fourteen runs off 15 overs illustrated the problems virtually every batsman has faced on a helpful wicket.

  4. Wet outfield at Leicesterpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

Durham 250-7 v Leicestershire - rain stopped play

We only had had 8.5 overs of play at Grace Road this morning.

And this tweet from BBC Radio Leicester's commentator is not encouraging.

  5. Middlesex make progresspublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Middlesex 223-7 v Kent - lunch

It's been a good morning for Middlesex at Canterbury - but one tinged with disappointment for Robbie White.

They added exactly 100 runs in the session, with White the only wicket to fall for 99.

He fell to Darren Stevens after a stand of 93 with James Harris, who went into lunch on 27 not out.

WICKET - AND ALL OUTpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

Berg c Cox b Leach 45 (Northants 212 all out)

Well, this sets up an intriguing second-innings battle with Northants seven runs adrift of Worcestershire's 219.

Gareth Berg somewhat blots his copybook with a wild swing at one that a diving Ben Cox grabs gratefully. Still a decent 45 though that has dragged Northants back into it.

    Anyone's game this.

  8. LUNCH at Cardiff and Edgbastonpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Glamorgan 116 v Glos 14-1 & Warks 121 v Somerset 353-8

A fairly sedate morning at Sophia Gardens where David Payne (5-31) quickly ended a poor Glamorgan innings before Gloucestershire limped to a slow 14-1 in reply.

There's been slightly more action in Birmingham where Steve Davies (108no) and Jamie Overton (80no including five sixes) have laid utter waste to the Warwickshire bowling.

Surely only the weather can stand between Jason Kerr's side and a third straight Bob Willis Trophy win in the Central Group?

  9. 6 runs

for Whitepublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Northants 209-9 v Worcs 219

Northants' last man Jack White waited 10 balls to get off the mark against Worcestershire - then walloped Brett D'Oliveira's part-time spin straight down the ground for a six with the 11th delivery.

    Things you love to see.

Northants, who were struggling at 100-7 at one stage, could yet establish a first-innings lead, albeit likely a slender one.

    Unless Jack keeps hitting these.

  10. Overton on firepublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Warks 121 v Somerset 347-8

Jamie Overton is on absolute flames for Somerset - this is his FIFTH six this morning!

He's on 75 off 69 balls and has shared a stand of 120 and counting with centurian Steve Davies (107).

Might Somerset follow Yorkshire and declare if they reach maximum batting points at 400?

Sussex celebrate Tom Westley's wicketImage source, Rex Features

We are seeing some cracking catches at Hove today.

Essex skipper Tom Westley clips Henry Crocombe away off his pads and that has 'four' written all over it.

Tom Clark, though, has other ideas and pulls off a brilliant diving catch at square leg.

Non-striker Sir Alastair Cook leans nonchalantly on his bat as Clark is surrounded by his exultant team-mates.

  12. Positive start by Woodpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 400-6 dec v Derbyshire 23-0

Derbyshire opener Tom Wood has a big job on his hands as a replacement for the reliable Luis Reece.

He hasn't played a first-class game since 2017, but has made a decent start to his first innings in this one.

Duanne Olivier tests him out with a bouncer which he hooks for four before stroking an overpitched delivery through the covers for another.

Wood's third boundary follows in Olivier's next over as he opens the face slightly and ball runs away to third man.

    Glamorgan 116 v Glos 12-1

Gloucestershire are taking it slowly at Sophia Gardens, amassing 12 runs from as many overs. But with such a low total to chase, time is on their side as long as the rain stays away in south wales.

Northants, meanwhile, have their first batting point of the Bob Willis Trophy as Gareth Berg, unbeaten on 41, has taken them past 200 against Worcestershire.

  15. Postpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Northants 198-9 v Worcs 219

A quick update from Wantage Road where Northants are within reach of a first batting point of the summer but have not been helped by Blessing Muzarabani's dismissal.

The Zimbabwean gets his footwork all wrong and deflects an easy catch to slip for Tom Fell for Ed Barnard's fourth wicket of the innings.

Can Northants squeeze past 200 like Worcestershire did on day one?

    White c Leaning b Stevens 99 (Middlesex 217-7)

Oh no, cricket is such a cruel, cruel, cruel mistress at times.

Nobody likes to see a batsman depart on 99 - well, except a bowler like Darren Stevens, perhaps, and the 44-year-old has racked up career wicket 802 at Robbie White's expense.

He feathers a shot straight to slip and walks away from the crease completely dejected - but he will have the consolation of knowing his highest first-class innings has put Middlesex in a good position at Canterbury.

  18. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Kent v Middlesex 216-6

Kent's bowlers are enduring a frustrating morning at Canterbury where Middlesex are motoring along nicely and have just registered their first batting point. Robbie White is one run shy of his century on 99.

The hosts will hope the new ball aids their cause.

Ben Slater looks like he can't quite believe it as he shapes to play Tom Bailey into the leg-side and the ball slides off the face into the hands of Steven Croft at gully.

Slater, who resumed on 111 not out, hit 17 fours in his 298-ball innings and put on 87 with Joe Clarke, who has been joined by Steven Mullaney.

Jamie Overton is going to catch Steve Davies up, you know, if he keeps this rate going.

He's just crashed another mammoth six - his third of the innings - and is treating this like a Twenty20 game.

He's on 56 off 52 balls. Warwickshire's bowling attack, perhaps missing the injured Olly Stone, has no answer to this pair.
