    Kent v Middlesex 158-6

While wickets have been flying around elsewhere this morning - notably at Northants and Glamorgan - there has been little to report from Canterbury where Middlesex have quietly added 35 without loss to their overnight 123-6.

James Harris (12no) is providing support to Robbie White (55no).

    Durham 250-7 v Leicestershire

Durham have their second batting at point at Grace Road where a leading edge by Ned Eckersley off Will Davis brings him a single against his former club.

Eckersley has seven not out and Brydon Carse is on 14 after two fours in the previous over from spinner Callum Parkinson, the first of them lofted magnificently straight down the ground.

But the weather has now closed in and they are off.

    Warks 121 v Somerset 240-8

Somerset are in search of a second batting point at Edgbaston - and are just 10 runs away from it.

While Steven Davies remains at the crease, you fancy them to get it - and maybe more. He's chugging along nicely on 72, with Jamie Overton at the other end, and might be turning his mind to the possibility of a century.

for Buckpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Northants 124-7 v Worcs 219

There hasn't been much to shout about for Northants this morning, losing three quick wickets to slip from an overnight 90-4 to 100-7 against Worcestershire.

Thus, Nathan Buck has decided attack is the best form of defence - he's hit 19 off 21 balls including this huge maximum to get the scoreboard ticking over again.

  6. Postpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Glamorgan 91-8 v Glos

This seems to be a bowler's morning.

Two more wickets have fallen in south Wales where Glamorgan will be struggling to reach three figures at this rate.

Gloucestershire's David Payne has taken all three wickets to fall at Sophia Gardens this morning en route to figures of 4-19. Graham Wagg is caught at mid-wicket by Ryan Higgins and Kieran Bull edges behind.

    Matt CritchleyImage source, Rex Features

Dawid Malan brings up a 200 partnership with Johnny Tattersall by clattering spinner Matt Critchley down the ground for a single.

It's a county record for the fifth wicket against Derbyshire - beating the 195 by Michael Lumb and Craig White at Derby in 2003.

But that's where it ends as two balls later Tattersall plays a limp stroke and gives a catch to Anuj Dal at cover.

    Durham 236-7 v Leicestsrsjhire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

Only 22.3 overs were possible yesterday because of bad light and rain and the day’s play was spread over five sessions. Imagine trying to keep your concentration as a batsman in those conditions?

But the groundstaff have done a great job here to get us going on time after some nasty rain last night. It hammered down and your Durham correspondent came a cropper in the hotel car park after slipping in mud.

    Thankfully nobody saw it happening!

Robbie White gets his reward for an incredibly patient innings for Middlesex at Canterbury - registering his 50 after more than three hours at the crease.

He does in style as well with a classy cut to the boundary. White's knock is giving Middlesex a chance of a total of something approaching 200 - they would have bitten your hand off for that at 68-4 on Sunday.

  10. Postpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 282-2 v Lancashire

Nottinghamshire are looking to push on and Joe Clarke is spoiling Liam Hurt's morning with three boundaries so far, all off the back foot.

The first two were played with authority, either side of the wicket, but the most recent was a thick edge which flew into the gap and down to third man. Clarke has 17 and Ben Slater is 118 not out.

  11. wicket

    Van der Merwe c Burgess b Hannon-Dalby 4 (Somerset 226-8)

Well, Warwickshire are giving themselves a chance at Edgbaston. Or, rather, Somerset's batting is giving them a chance.

Roleof van der Merwe follows up Lewis Gregory's earlier soft dismissal with another careless shot, flicking out at a harmless Oliver Hannon-Dalby ball to give wicketkeeper Michael Burgess an easy take behind the stumps.

Absolute disaster for Northants - three wickets falling in the space of about five minutes!

After Charlie Thurston's departure, Saif Zaib and Adam Rossington quickly follow, both caught at slip.

The Pears will have the bit between their teeth now - they will fancy winning this one.

    Garton c Wheater b Porter 18 (Sussex 167-7 v Essex)

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

It's rare that Jamie Porter doesn't pick up an early wicket and he's done so again at Hove where George Garton plays slightly down the wrong line and a thin edge is meat and drink to keeper Adam Wheater. Porter now has 4-52 and Stuart Meaker is the new Sussex batsman.

  14. Third batting point for Tykespublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 303-4 v Derbyshire

Dustin Melton tries another short ball and Dawid Malan swats it away to square leg for two runs as Yorkshire's total advances past 300. Malan is 166 not out now, exactly 100 more than partner Johnny Tattersall, who is also under way with two.

  15. Postpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Northants 92-5 v Worcs 219 & Glamorgan 81-6 v Glos

Wickets are tumbling everywhere in the early stages of day three - with Northamptonshire and Glamorgan both facing uphill battles now.

Northants' Charlie Thurston goes for 21, deceived by a bouncing delivery from Josh Tongue and gets a nick off the top of the bat to wicketkeeper Ben Cox to leave the hosts five down for only 92 runs.

Glamorgan are in even a worse state as Billy Root edges to George Hankins at slip and departs for 19, leaving the hosts 81-6 against Gloucestershire.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Coughlin c Evans b Griffiths 0 (Durham 227-7 v Leicestershire)

Leicestershire strike early at Grace Road as Paul Coughlin tries to drive an away swinger from Gavin Griffiths, but skews a catch to Sam Evans at point. That's a third wicket for Griffiths. Brydon Carse is out to join Ned Eckersley at the crease.

  17. Postpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 293-4 v Derbyshire

Dawid Malan has looked in control throughout his innings against Derbyshire - but that was a streaky start to the third day's play.

Dustin Melton digs one in and Malan seems to be surprised by how quickly it is onto him, but the ball flies away down to fine leg for four.

The left-hander is now 158 not out, with Johnny Tattersall on 64 - the same score he had at the end of the first day's play.

  18. Postpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 269-2 v Lancashire

Having spent 40 odd hours stuck on 111 not out because of Sunday's wash-out, Ben Slater takes a single to get Notts up and running again at Trent Bridge. Presumably, they will have to try and press on this morning if they are to have a chance of winning this game from here.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Gregory c Brookes b Bresnan 14 (Somerset 215-7)

Not the start to day three Somerset were looking for! But exactly the start Warwickshire wanted.

The Bears pick up the first wicket of Monday with just the seventh ball of the day at Edgbaston as Lewis Gregory tamely lobs one up towards mid-off where Henry Brookes takes the catch. Strange shot, that.

Fairly muted celebrations from Warwickshire as Tim Bresnan takes his third wicket of the innings - clearly they know there's plenty of work still to be done to get back in this one.
