  1. Yorkshire declare at Headingleypublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 400-6 dec v Derbyshire

George Hill hits a boundary off Matt Critchley to secure Yorkshire's fifth batting point and skipper Steven Patterson calls a halt to his side's first innings.

Their job now is to try and bowl out Derbyshire twice in five and a bit sessions to make it three wins out of three in North group.#

Kudos again to Dawid Malan for his magnificent career-best 219. Jordan Thompson ends on 36 not out.

A fully-deserved century for Somerset's wicketkeeper-batsman Steve Davies. He picks it up in slightly unusual fashion, scampering for a three but he won't care a jot how it came.

Somerset have passed 300 for a third batting point and are approaching a lead of 200 - only the weather can save Warwickshire now, you suspect.

At the other end, Jamie Overton is threatening to catch Davies up - he's smashed a run-a-ball 49 including a couple of massive sixes.

    Surrey 130-8 v Hampshire - start delayed

Arundel Castle is the only ground where we haven't seen any play so far. There will be a further inspection at 12:45, so let;'s hope we see some play this afternoon.

Still no success for Lancashire at Trent Bridge where Ben Slater and Joe Clarke have now added 80 for the fourth wicket.

Clarke pulled spinner Tom Hartley powerfully for four and is now 41 not out, with Slater on 137.

  6. Postpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Glamorgan 116 v Glos 3-1

Elsewhere, Gloucestershire have begun their reply to Glamorgan's 116 all out - and they haven't begun it particularly well.

Chris Dent is adjudged caught behind for a duck in the second over, although the Gloucestershire skipper did not look particularly convinced by the umpire's decision.

  7. 200 runs

for Dawid Malanpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 395-5 v Derbyshire

    Dawid MalanImage source, Rex F

And there it is - Dawid Malan reaches the first double century of his career from 240 balls, with a boundary, carved through the covers off Leus du Plooy.

He celebrates with 4-6-6 from the next three deliveries and suddenly he is on 219 - but that is as far as he gets as the final ball of the over sees him caught at long-off by Ben Aitchison.

Malan batted for 366 minutes, faced 244 balls and hit four sixes and 28 fours. Superb knock,.

    Browne b Claydon 4 (Sussex 194 v Essex 4-1)

First over, third ball: Nick Browne pushes elegantly through mid-off for four.

First over, fifth ball: Browne attempts another drive, misses, and two stumps are out of the ground.

That should give Sussex a lift.

Jamie Overton is not messing about for Somerset - he wallops a stunning six off Craig Miles to move to 30no and put Somerset within reach of a third batting point.

At the other end, Steven Davies, on 95, is in touching distance of a century...

    Claydon c A Cook b Beard 1 (Sussex 194 v Essex)

Sir Alastair Cook takes a catchImage source, Rex Features

Having lavished praise on Sir Alastair Cook for a brilliant catch (see 12:05 entry), he's only gone and taken another to bring Sussex's first innings to an end at Hove.

This one was far more comfortable and that'as four in the innings for the ex-England captain. Wonder what he's got in store for Sussex with the bat?

Jamie Porter finished with 5-60 for Essex, with 3-48 by Simon Harmer.

  11. Postpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 352-5 v Derbyshire

Dawid Malan made his highest score of 199 for Middlesex against Derbyshire in 2019 - and he is getting mighty close to bettering that for his new county after launching Matt Critchley over mid-wicket for six.

Malan is now 192 not out and Jordan Thompson has 20 - that's four batting points now for the Tykes.

  12. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Northants 158-8 v Worcs 219

And, of course, just as I write that, Buck departs - sorry, Northants fans.

Ed Barnard's delivery was just too good for him and Buck could only nick to second slip where Daryl Mitchell pounces.

A nice 32 though there from Buck - Northants' top score - to get the hosts right back in this one.

  13. Postpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Northants 158-7 v Worcs 219

Well, well, well - Northants were facing a hefty first-innings deficit at Wantage Road when they slumped to 100-7. Now, they could be eyeing a lead. This is why we love cricket, eh?

Nathan Buck (pictured) is on 32 and Gareth Berg 18 - they have put together a quickfire 50 partnership in just 54 balls that has got Worcestershire just a tad worried.

    Thomason c A Cook b Harmer 30 (Sussex 193-9 v Essex)

    Sir Alastair!!! Incredible reflexes.

SImon Harmer floats one up outside off stump, Aaron Thomason plays an indeterminate shot and the former England captain takes a superb catch above his head at first slip,.

In all his long and glittering career, he won't have taken many better than that.

WICKET - AND ALL OUTpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

De Lange c Roderick b Shaw 2 (Glamorgan 116 all out)

And that's the end of a pretty poor innings from Glamorgan, Dan Douthwaite stranded unbeaten on 30 due to the paucity of assistance from his teammates.

Marchant de Lange edges Josh Shaw to Gloucestershire wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick and that's the end of that.

We lost a whole day and a half in this game but the visitors will still fancy their chances of forcing a win now.

  16. Postpublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 303-2 v Lancashire

Liam Hurt has repeatedly tried banging the ball in short to Joe Clarke and apart from one fortuitous edge to third man, it simply has not worked.

Clarke pulls through mid-wicket for four to take the Notts total past 300 and earn them a third batting point.

He has 26 and Ben Slater is on 120, having added only nine to his overnight total so far.

  17. Postpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Warks 121 v Somerset 259-8

Somerset have recovered from the blow of those early couple of wickets, and have recorded a second batting point.

Steven Davies is on 82 - he will be targeting a ton and Somerset will be eyeing 300 and a big lead over Warwickshire.

David Payne seems to like Monday mornings - his fourth scalp of the day gives the Gloucestershire paceman a five-for overall and Glamorgan are staring down the barrel of a very low total.

Tim van der Gugten is his latest victim, an unarguable lbw.

    Meaker c Harmer b Porter 10 (Sussex 183-8 v Essex)

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

Did that carry - the umpire says yes.

Jamie Porter takes five in an innings for the 13th time as Stuart Meaker edges to second slip where Simon Harmer takes the catch millimetres above the turf.

Porter now has 340+ wickets at an average in the mid 20s - he is so unlucky not to have had at least one chance for England. But there have been plenty of good players down the years who could say the same.

  20. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 17 August 2020

    Yorkshire 326-5 v Derbyshire

Wow, Dawid Malan has been timing it well in this innings.

Dustin Melton bowls one on his pads and Malan thumpos it away over mid-wicket for the 26th four of his innings.

The left-hander now has 179 not out and partner Jordan Thompson is on nine.
