Ollie Robinson will be a handful on this pitch, and with these conditions.
A defensive push down the ground by Rohit Sharma to a delivery slightly overpitched by Ollie Robinson brings him two runs. Robinson gets one to climb into Rohit with his final ball which prompts a stifled 'ooohhh' from the slip cordon.

This demonstrates how much Ollie Robinson has progressed in Joe Root's mind in his first two Test matches.
It's Ollie Robinson at the other end and it's either a brilliant leave, or a slight misjudgment, from Rohit Sharma, as the ball nips in and whistles past his off stump.

I'd go with Sam Curran at the other end, with his little nibbly swing.
Rohit Sharma off the mark with a clip off his pads from Anderson's third delivery. England have an attacking field with three slips and a gully.
KL Rahul happy to leave early on.

There must be something there for James Anderson and we all remember Edgbaston...
James Anderson nibbles one on a length to Rohit Sharma with his first ball. More than a hint of swing, as Aggers suggested.

I'll be surprised if it doesn't swing today...
James Anderson doing some final stretches, ball in hand.

I wonder what Joe Root is saying in the second huddle. He can't really repeat what he said in the first huddle surely? It wouldn't quite have the same impact.
The players are back on the field at Lord's.

I'm looking forward to seeing Haseeb Hameed. He just looked like a player.

Haseeb Hameed and Sam Curran are in the same England team for the first time. They are fifth and seventh respectively on the list of youngest men to have played Test cricket for England. On debut, Hameed was 19 years and 297 days, Curran 19 years and 363 days.
Flashes of blue sky amid the broader canvass of grey hanging over Lord's. We're looking at a proposed 11:30 BST start.
It is anticipated lunch will be taken at 13:30, tea at 16:10 with stumps at 18:30.

Disappointed that Crawley has been dropped but can understand why and excited to see how Hameed has developed. Feel for Lawrence because he did well in the winter and deserves the run of games that others have had. Ollie Pope has had plenty of chances, batted in arguably the easier middle order role than the other young batsmen of Sibley and Crawley and has failed to deliver so I hope Lawrence gets a recall ahead of Pope when the time comes.

If I was Zak Crawley I would go away and look at what you need to do to play well in Australia - that would be to cut, pull and play the bouncing ball. I would try and go away, finish well with Kent and practise some of those things.
I absolutely think he has the talent to come back.
The covers were being put on at Lord's, amid general groaning from a grouchy crowd, but the rain is very light.
At least those in the 'bedlam' outside HQ should get into the ground in time for play to start.
In the meantime, England's XI for this match...
