India turn to Mohammed Shami in search of a wicket which would provide one shining ray of light in what has been a nightmare start to the Test.
And he nearly does it with an absolute beauty! The perfect length, shaping in and then moving away off the turf as Burns plays inside the line.

I was on my yearly boys golfing weekend for Headingly 2019 up in Edinburgh. Needless to say we certainly angered some Scottish locals who were not amused at our screaming all crowded round my friend's phone on the 17th green!

Oof! Is this an amazing leave form Hameed or fortune? Bumrah has one swinging back into the batsman and the ball whistles over the top of off stump.
But that delivery is a gem amongst the rough from Bumrah - the remainder of the over is bowled too wide and does not trouble Hameed in the slightest.

England have looked composed so far. After the chaos with the ball, they just need a nice solid opening stand to settle things down.
More nice running from Burns and Hameed with two well-taken singles. How England are crying for an opening partnership with two batsmen who share good understanding.
Each run is being cheered by the home fans with England already more than quarter the way through India's first innings score. Yep, I'm getting in on the maths talk. Fractions and that, innit.
Can we please stop arguing about maths? You're creating too much division.

Re Danny: But 1/x tends to infinity in the limit as x tends to 0, so I reckon it holds up
We have just over 10 minutes left until tea.
Haseeb Hameed has made a solid start...

England's highest opening partnership in this series is 37.
Ishant Sharma's first over - which included two no-balls and a wide - has really set the tone for England's reply.
Bumrah struggles to consistently find a threatening line as Burns and Hameed both easily play off the pads for singles.
As promised here are the six wickets that England took after lunch.
Ollie Robinson started it off, before Craig Overton and Sam Curran both took two wickets in successive balls. Overton then wrapped up the innings.
A job well done for England.
Carol Vorderman has spoken.
Haseeb Hameed is technically such a gifted player. He waits for the ball and flicks Sharma through mid-wicket for two.

Re Bob: 1 run divided by 0 balls isn't actually infinity, its an impossible division to perform.

Fair point, Vic.
Ha ha. Vic Marks is really laying into Burns' barnet, and I'm here for that all day.
Virat Kohli is chewing his gum, shades on, the odd shake of the head. He is seething.

Does Rory Burns know that you can go to the hairdressers now?
In case you're just joining us for the first time today here are the four wickets that England took in the morning session to restrict India to 56-4 at lunch.
We'll bring you all six from the afternoon session in a few minutes.
Hameed is not afraid of playing shots! Jasprit Bumrah is welcomed to the attack with a drive through gully for a boundary. It's aerial for a moment but low and through the gap.
Brilliant running from Hameed as he prods into the leg side and takes a single.

Has there ever been a longer-haired opening partnership for England?
