Luke: Very generous of Rohit. Knew he was out to the stumping so gave his wicket away to make amends.
John: The cricket gods have spoken. Rohit's reprieve is short lived.
Rahane 66, Pant 0
I have seen war films with smaller explosions than that Moeen delivery. Unplayable and a reminder that this is not an easy pitch to bat on.
Rohit made it look so. 161 runs from 231 balls for the opener.

Pant is such an exciting player and can cause havoc in a short space of time.
A ripper from Moeen turns about a foot too much to find Pant's edge.
A glimmer for England? Here's Rishabh Pant. There are seven overs before the new ball.
Moeen Ali is coming back into the attack.

It felt like quite a tame dismissal in the end. It was like catching practice. Rohit can't believe it, he had to drag himself off.
Rohit c Moeen b Leach 161 (Ind 248-4)
A breakthrough for England! Wow they needed this. Rohit cannot believe what he has done. He falls top-edging a sweep off Leach to deep square leg.
He has to drag himself from the field which only lengthens the huge ovation.
A brilliant, brilliant innings.

In some ways, that sums up England's day. Lots of nearly things but nothing quite concrete enough to get them back in the game.

From the stump cam that it looked out. From the side angle it looked like there might have been a spike behind the line.
It was one of those where if you're an India fan, it's not out. And if you're an England fan, it's out.
This could really go away from England in the final hour after that decision went against them. Rahane cuts for four.

Alex Stockton: No doubt that was out. Clearly nothing behind the line, baffling decision.
Tom: Rohit had nothing behind the line then...
Sam Roberts: How on earth is that not out? That’s an absolutely disgraceful decision.
Rohit 161, Rahane 61
England didn't complain but their expressions when the decision was shown on the big screen told me they thought it was out. The umpire wanted a look from the off side but there was no angle available. He then very quickly gave it not out.

It was a beautiful piece of glove work. It was effortless. I think Rohit was a lucky man there.
I didn't see any part of Rohit's boot as behind the line there. Big call.
Well, well.

I think this could be out.
I don't think there's anything behind the line.

Foakes is quite enthusiastic about this. It really turned.
The crowd nervously falls quiet. The third umpire wants to see another angle.
