  1. Bad light at Tauntonpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Somerset 461-9d v Leics 390-7

    Just what Leicestershire didn't need.

Their eighth-wicket stand between Harry Swindells and Ed Barnes is worth 118 and the deficit is down to only 71.

A tremendous effort that's giving the Foxes a great chance to save the game.

  2. wicket

WICKET Clark b Wheal 7published at 17:44 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Hampshire 488 v Surrey 66-7

Jordan Clark offers no stroke, the ball cuts back and his off stump is poleaxed.

  3. Postpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Lancashire 215-8 v Kent 74

After 29 dot balls, Tom Hartley scores his first runs and it's a boundary, pulled away off James Logan. Three more come from the final ball of the over as Lancashire extend their lead to 141.

Given the turn Logan has found, Hartley may have a big part to play on the final day after being brought into the game this morning as replacement for Matt Parkinson.

  4. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Lancashire 203-8 v Kent 74

Great shot. Lancashire have a batting point as Luke Wood drives James Logan straight for four. There are now shadows across the ground at Old Trafford.

  5. 50 runs

for James Braceypublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Glos 248 & 112-3 v Middx 101

My word will this feel good for James Bracey.

He's endured a horror month, first with England in two Test matches that a few predicted ended his international career almost before it began, than back with the Glosters in the T20 Blast.

But this is back to what made his name in the first place and this 95-ball fifty has helped drive home his side's advantage.

  6. wicket

WICKET Amla b Barker 29published at 17:22 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Hampshire 488 v Surrey 51-6

Two in three balls for Hampshire as Keith Barker produces a fabulous inswinging yorker to send back Hashim Amla. That's four in the innings now for the former Warwickshire bowler.

  7. wicket

WICKET Geddes lbw Abbott 4published at 17:19 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Hampshire 488 v Surrey 51-5

After such a long hold-up, Hampshire are in a hurry to pick up these remaining Surrey wickets so they can enforce the follow-on.

Ben Geddes is the first to go, playing across the line to a ball that cut back from outside off stump.

  8. Postpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Sussex 226 & 24-3 v Glam 215

Time against a result at Hove but not if wickets continue to tumble like this.

Timm van der Gugten and Michael Hogan have taken three inside 11 overs and Sussex only lead by 35.

But even with a win, it's a cricketing certainty that Glamorgan won't reach the top two, if not a mathematical one just yet.

  9. Postpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Lancashire 190-8 v Kent 74

Same bowler, same catcher - Danny Lamb goes for two at Old Trafford, taken by Darren Stevens off James Logan.

This time, though, it's a top edge from an attempted sweep shot that falls into Stevens' hands at first slip.

Kent now have two short legs and two slips in place for the spinner, but they are 116 behind and facing a testing final day if the weather holds.

  11. Postpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Lancashire 186-7 v Kent 74

Rob Jones misses out on a half-century as he falls to James Logan for 47 at Old Trafford. There's a bit of turn there for the left-arm spinner and Darren Stevens takes the catch at first slip.

The wicket ends a partnership of 69 between Jones and Luke Wood, who is still there on 27.

  12. YORKSHIRE BEAT NORTHANTS BY 53 RUNSpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Northants 170 & 152 v Yorkshire 158 & 217

Two balls later and Ben Sanderson is pinned lbw for a duck and Yorkshire have won.

It's a victory to effectively seal their place in Division One for September.

Another game this season where they've been in a real fight but found a way to win.

Man of the Match goes to Harry Brook for that second-innings century, by far the best batting of the match and it left Northants with far too many to get.

The home side will again feel it's a game they should have won - like the return fixture they lost by just one run.

It'll be Division Two cricket for Northants now.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

Kerrigan c Duke b Olivier 29 (Northants 152-9 need 206 to beat Yorkshire)

Simon Kerrigan had got a nice stand together with Luke Procter and they were beginning to give Northants a smidgeon of hope.

But Kerrigan has tried to hook Duanne Olivier and the ball goes through so slowly that he's through with the stroke much too soon and gloves behind.

  14. Postpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Hampshire 488 v Surrey 47-4

Play begins at the Ageas Bowl, with Ben Geddes at the crease for Surrey after replacing Will Jacks in their side. Brad Wheal has four left to complete an unfinished over and Geddes strokes the last of them through the covers for four runs.

  15. Postpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Somerset 461-9d v Leics 351-7

The Foxes' eighth-wicket pair have now been together for 12 overs and it's denied Somerset a third bowling point.

In a very tight scrap for the top two, that could be important.

But far from just denying their opposition, Leicestershire have gained themselves a fourth batting point by smashing 31 in three overs!

Ed Barnes struck three of the final four balls of the 110th over for four.

  16. NOTTS BEAT DERBYSHIRE BY INNS AND 36 RUNSpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Notts 307 v Derbyshire 149 & 122

    Luke FletcherImage source, Rex Features

Two in over over for Luke Fletcher, who has George Scrimshaw caught behind to end the game and finish with figures of 5-28.

It's also four catches in the innings for replacement keeper Dane Schadendorf - who was summoned this morning to take over from England-bound Ben Duckett.

Notts take 22 points and are 17 clear at the top of Group One, pending the result in the Warwickshire v Durham game - and 19 clear of third-placed Essex, with only one game left to decide which teams progress to Division One in the next phase.

Fletcher now has 46 wickets for the season at an average of 12.43..

  17. wicket

WICKET Hosein lbw Fletcher 28published at 16:56 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Notts 307 v Derbyshire 149 & 122-9

Like dominoes falling in line, the end is nigh for Derbyshire at Trent Bridge.

Luke Fletcher traps Harvey Hosein in front and now has 4-28.

Will he make it a five-for and win the game for his side?

  18. wicket

WICKET Cohen lbw Paterson 0published at 16:53 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Notts 307 v Derbyshire 149 & 122-8

It's unravelling now for Derbyshire. Michael Cohen is the latest to go, for a five-ball duck. Ben Aitchison is the new batsman - as we mentioned earlier it's his 22nd birthday today.

  19. Latest from Edgbastonpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Warwickshire 237 v Durham 173-5

Conditions are still moist in Birmingham so there has been no resumption since tea. David Bedingham is 37 not out for Durham, with Ned Eckersley on 18.

What an innings this is to haul Leicestershire out of trouble.

A second first-class century for the 22-year-old from Leicester.

He smaahes Marchant de Lange over cover to get there in 186 balls with 15 fours.
