    Warwickshire 237 v Durham 21-1

Play began on time at Edgbaston after another reshuffle in the ranks. Graham Clark and Jack Burnham will replace Ben Stokes and Brydon Carse for Durham, although Burnham may still be somewhere en route. Meanwhile, Ethan Brookes comes into the Warwickshire side for Danny Briggs.

A leg bye is the only addition to Durham's overnight score thus far.

  2. Start delayed at Hovepublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Sussex 226 v Glam 205-9

But the overnight rain has delayed the start at Hove.

Sussex have had a few problems with their outfield this season and more rain is not what they needed.

Payne was also Gloucestershire's stand-in captain for this game.

Dom Goodman has taken his place in the side.

  4. Delayed start at Ageas Bowlpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

  8. Yorkshire need 200 plus lead - Besspublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

    Northamptonshire 170-9 v Yorkshire 158 & 159-6

    Dom BessImage source, Getty Images

England spin bowler Dom Bess believes a Yorkshire lead of 200 or more will leave Northamptonshire a "tricky chase" in the fourth innings of their game at Wantage Road.

Victory for Yorkshire - who lead by 147 - would effectively guarantee them a place among the six clubs who will compete for the title - but a win for Northants would enable them to leapfrog their opponents in Group Three.

"it’s about making sure we keep chipping away at our lead and, when we get the ball back in our hands, putting them under as much pressure as we can," said Bess, who took 7-43 in the home side's first innings.

“They’ve had three T20s on it and 180 (overs) in this game already. But if you really do apply yourselves, you can score runs. Anything up around 200 will be a really tricky chase.”

  9. Middlesex put faith in de Cairespublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

There's a big day ahead for Middlesex batsman Josh de Caires after they bowled out Gloucestershire on day one at Cheltenham.

The 19-year-old son of former England captain Michael Atherton is set to open the batting in his maiden Championship innings.

He scored 118 for Leeds-Bradford Universities in a pre-season game against Yorkshire in March, but more recently made two half-centuries for the Middlesex second XI in T20 games.

Atherton made 53 in his first Championship innings for Lancashire against Warwickshire at Southport in 1987 - how will his son fare today?

  10. Start delayed at Old Traffordpublished at 10:44 British Summer Time 6 July 2021

Hampshire tail-ender Brad Wheal hailed Colin de Grandhomme as "world-class" after the pair shared a 10th-wicket stand of 114 against Surrey.

Wheal's 45 was his highest score, while New Zealand's de Grandhomme marked his Championship debut for the club with 174 not out.

"It was good just to be out there, Colin is a world-class player and great to bat with. He was very positive and looking to score runs all the time and put them under pressure," the Scotland seam bowler said.

"Any runs from the tail are good and as our coach keeps saying, 'a happy dog wags its tail'."

More news on that when we have it.

For now, it's day three in seven matches - and day two at Cheltenham, so welcome to our coverage. Play is due to start at 11:00 BST.
