    Middlesex 147 & 363, Kent 138 & 206-4

  4. A second six for Sibley . . .published at 16:42 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367 & 78-0

    . . . And that's not easy to say!

    In more ways than one!

This one is off his England team-mate Jack Leach and deposited over the deep midwicket boundary.

There's only about 30 in the Eric Hollies Stand today. They liked it.

But, had there been the 3,000 they get here on big match days, the place would have gone mental

DERBYSHIRE BEAT SUSSEX BY NINE WICKETSpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Derbyshire 465 & 23-1, Sussex 300 & 187

At the 14th - and last - attempt Derbyshire have their first County Championship win of the season.

They have finished off Sussex's youngsters by nine wickets at Hove.

It means Sussex finish bottom of Division Three, having lost all their four games since the restart.

But they have also used this fairly meaningless finale (as far as the lower division counties are concerned) to blood some of their young players.

And how much benefit will they get from that in the years to come?

  14. Lancashire need 44 to winpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 152-5 (Target 196) v Hampshire

After Crane's wicket maiden, Keith Barker sends down five dots to Dane Vilas, before the batter steers a single off the final ball of his over.

The Lancs captain has been joined at the crease by Danny Lamb.

Just when it felt like Hampshire's title hopes were beginning to fade, Mason Crane strikes!

Good ball from the leggie to trap Steven Croft on the crease. Pitching leg, hitting middle - Croft has to go.

A useful 20 since tea from Croft, but he has not seen it through.

Barker gives Dane Vilas a bit of room off the back foot and he powers it away through the offside for four.

The Lancashire skipper then picks up two down to fine leg.

Mohammad Abbas limbering up. Hampshire need him desperately.

  18. Bears stepping up the tempo?published at 16:07 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367 & 32-0, Somerset 389

Warwickshire need to score quickly at Edgbaston to give themselves some sort of hope of bowling out Somerset to potentially win the County Championship title tomorrow.

But it is still intriguing to see Bears openers Rob Yates and Dom Sibley up the tempo just at the same time that Lancashire appear to be back in the ascendancy at Aigburth.

For the Bears to win the title, they need Lancashire to win that game.

If Hampshire win, then it's only second place at best.

  19. Lancashire need 51 to winpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 145-4 (Target 196) v Hampshire

Crane produces a googly that goes past Steven Croft's bat but misses everything. A real scare.

Two more singles to reduce the target.

Keith Barker to come back on for Hampshire.

  20. Close shavespublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 143-4 (Target 196) v Hampshire

Mason Crane is convinced he has Dane Vilas LBW. It might have pitched outside leg stump. Then Steven Croft edges the next ball past slip down to third man for three.

In Brad Wheal's next over, Croft hits two priceless fours and a single before Vilas ends it with a couple. 11 off the over.
